- Last time there was a music thread and I posted indie and indie rock, I got flamed and my music was mis-labeled "emo". That's why I was happily surprised at a positive response to indie music.

That is SO cool. :)
I remember that episode of the simpsons when the band was playing and the MC said, "who likes the Doobie Brothers. . . .'cause we got one of them" lol, too funny.- So much music.

That's a good list. Btw Bjork's newer stuff has been blowing my mind.xrobotlove wrote:

Thank God at least one other person that enjoys indie music. I have every album on iTunes, thanks to torrents. My two favorites are The New Year and Champaigne from a Paper Cup. The newer more polished one, actually the older one is good too. (I like their older stuff and most of their newer stuff). Did you read my list? Do you like that kinda stuff or Sunny Day Real Estate, Iron & Wine, The Decemberists, etc...?
"What Sarah Said" is one of my favorite songs. I love the song, and Sarah is the "name" of one of my guitars....ohhh....lost love...maybe I should have named it something less depressing...
I didn't realize some of those bands were indie...I remember a time when indie=crappy and unpopular. It's good to see there are some bands smart enough to do it on their own.- davesmurano12 years agoNew SpectatorPink Floyd, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones.
If I had to go to a deserted island and for the rest of my life I could only listen to one band then it would be between Zep and Floyd but Floyd would have to win out because they have more material. Guess I could always hum Stairway if I had to. ;) AMSnake-o wrote:

I just picked up her first four proper releases (among some 50 other albums) last week and I've been listening to hers constantly. I used to subscribe to the "Bjork is weird, but I've never listened to her" bandwagon. What a shame! This is beautiful music!
I'll have to check her newer albums out as soon as I'm done sifting through all of this new music.- Cool, xrobot! I grew up in the Santa Cruz mountains, and the Doobie brothers certainly made a name for themselves there! :)
Great list, Kennedy. I love Chris Isaac.
A few more of mine:
Cat Stevens
Randy Newman
Tom Petty
Tracy Chapman
Sarah Mclachlan
Nirvana
Ray Charles
Bob Dylan
