Gameplay/Quests becomming more difficult?

I agree there are certain strategies you can use, like using pavement instead of roadway. But for me, that takes away from the game play. Part of the fun for me is building a unique town. If I need to design my town in a certain way just to be able to get through the game, it adds a lot of frustration and takes away a lot of fun from the game.

Our son has done that.

He removed all his roads and replaced them with pavement and rivers.

Then he created two strips of road separated by a river. He did it so he could watch them walking on water but it also has made finding the characters and assigning them easier for him.

It actually doesn't look bad either because he didn't move any buildings, just swapped the roads out.

I agree that finding the characters is a mission to find them at times, defo need the character select button so we can find them easier :)

As for the tasks and keeping everyone free what I tend to do is when a task comes up and let's say that task is 8hts I will assign everyone to the same amount of time that way everyone finishes at Sam point, making the next assignment easy to do :D

As some people do in their towns use a small section of road so all the people go there n don't wonder around lol me I have roads everywhere I like the challenge of finding em all :lol:

He's only got about 30 friends. So you probably are not friends with him. He's not a very active player lol. I actually have to remind him to visit his friends. He only likes to play during events.

It is getting cumbersome, but while it does take some of the surprise out of it, I just read the FAQ and schedule those that need to be free so that they'll be available. Big thanks for those that post that info. Then I otherwise just assign new tasks immediately so I don't lose track of them.

Definitely would like a character list with location/task info or to jump to them. I'd rather have my town look like a town, although a neighbor of mine does have rivers in place of roads, which gives it an interesting Venice look.

When my town was smaller and I had fewer characters, I could sweep through and first complete all tasks, and then sweep through again to assign new normal tasks. if the game was waiting for two or more characters to be free to initiate a quest task, it would happen when all of my characters were free and the exclamation bubble was was easy to see.

I can no longer complete all tasks first before assigning new tasks. My town is too big and characters easily get lost/hidden. The game doesn't provide a way to see which characters are assigned tasks and which characters are not, so we don't have a way to even know if any characters are loose. So now i need to complete one character's task, immediatelly assign a new task, then move on to the next character, rinse, repeat. But this method makes it nearly impossible to get through quests that have tasks requiring two or more free characters to initiate. I now need to go through the build faqs just to progress through the game (a sincere "thank you" to everyone who contributes to the build faq!), which takes away most of the fun in this game for me.

Long story short, I'm going to stop playing this game soon if we don't get some game play features that make it easier to manage the plethora or characters we now have. Some of these features have been discussed ad nauseum on this forum. Features like a screen showing all your characters, whether or not they're assigned a task, and tapping on a character on the list takes you to that character in your town. Tasks should only require one free character to initiate. Etc, etc.

Is anyone else finding it harder and harder to play the game?

I've found this helpful. Go down the task bar and tap each icon. Should take you to the appropriate person. Finish the tasks in the task bar first, then on to the rest. Should keep your tasks moving that way.

I understand your frustration, but there are ways around this & it has proven to work by me 100% of the time. If you follow my tips, you won't have these issues anymore. This is what I do...

If Lenny has a quest that last 4 hours. I will send all characters on 4hr quests, so that when I come back to the game. Everyone is now free and ill be able to do the next quest. Rinse and repeat. This tactic works every time.

'Difficult' is rather overdoing it don't you think? Granted it might be marginally 'more difficult'....

I use a certain method to scroll through my town when completing/assigning tasks. I start at the top of my town (at my volcano lair), scroll down the left along the mountains, to the right one screen width, up to the top, to the right, down again, continuing until I'm at the far right of my town.

My method makes it nearly impossible to progress in quests that have two-character quest tasks because I don't have more than one character free at a time, thus tasks aren't being triggered. Using the method you describe is what I've needed to do for the Lenny/Carl quest tasks. But this requires me to either read the build FAQ to know which two-or-more characters initiate the task and how long the task is (which takes a lot of fun out of the game), or free up all my characters first to find the one character who initiates a quest task in which case I lose characters.

There are some good ideas overall, but they all mostly require a specific method of game play to get around the problem or rely on a build FAQ which takes some of the fun and surprise out of the game. It would be nice if we got a game feature that actually addresses the issue.
