Housefarm dilemma...
if you like to house farm then keep house farming.

I find that I'm constantly having to redesign my SF as new buildings are added. You have to play the game in a way that benefits you (not your neighbours) the most. If you need extra cash, by all means house farm..you can even make a house farm attractive using fences and a few decorations a to create a gated community. Take a good look at your town, if there is an area that you're not particularly happy with, well thats a good place for a house farm. You can always take a screen shot for future reference if its an area you would like to re-create in the future.
