Ah jeez I love my Galaxy Note! Hold down the home button and power button at the same time and wait until the screen flashes. :)
On my SGT3 10.1 I have to rotate the device 90 degrees left (portrait mode) and then hold down the home and power buttons at the same time. For 2-3 secs. Then get the white flash around the border. The pic goes in the clip board and into an album in the Gallery app.
