Because they don't care about the money from this deal, and they definitely don't care about customer satisfaction beyond what will earn maximum profit.
Uuuummmmm... They don't care about money, only profit?
If people get the idea cemented in that they can never ever ever ever ever get something again unless they spend 60 donuts on it RIGHT NOW, RIGHT NOW, RIGHT NOW before it's gone, then that screws up with future psychological warfare and impulse buying decisions
...when you think about a purchase for a while, the average consumer will not spend the money to get it, or at least enough will not spend the money. When they put a clock on and say NOW OR NEVER, you have a psychological terrorist tactic to screw with you and make you purchase.
Sooooo... they want to have people making impulsive buying decisions, but cementing "right now" into a customer's head... screws up future attempts to tell them that they have to get something "right now"??
Do you... I can't even... Can you... English?
*edit* Okay, did anyone else see that post? It seems to have vanished after I replied. It's very late, maybe I hallucinated the whole thing. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h121/PhoenixRoseStar/Emotes/eyespin.gif
