I think it is just that you can send more than the requested number of characters to do that task. But the game sets you up to do this, with a neat dialogue for the several different characters that go. Most of these characters do not earn gift cards, but they can just for these tasks.

I think there's even space for more optimization: Send either Homer or Lisa to the tree house, and let the other character continue on their regular gift card tasks (until you either tap the tree house by mistake, leaving you a second round, or gathered all premium items from the surprise wheel).

Yup, it's best not to send both Homer and Lisa on the task. Also, move the tree house to BFE so you don't accidentally tap it.

If all the available Springfielder's are free and you send them all on the 4 hour tasks, you'll get around 1,000 gift cards.

I've just got enough gift cards to get the Flanders Santa skin and I've just sent everyone on the second 4 hour task to drink at Moe's. So once that is done and I then do my 100 neighbour visits, I'll have the Plow King today as well!

I have continued to send all the characters on the 8 hours "hunt for the Simpsons" task while leaving Homer/Lisa in the treehouse. I now have over 46,000 gift cards. I will continue to exploit this until I get all the prizes from Krusty's Wheel of Donut Spend (I have only the snow god to go)

I've just sent Maude on the Enjoy a Beer quest.

I would have thought she'd be more into spirits than beer....

yes, I am wondering about that as well. When the Christmas update hit, anyone who was done with task was "kicked off it" and if that happens say on the 22 with the start of the speculated about addition to the quest line, then my Homer/Lisa would also be kicked off the task, thus ending it, or as you say, they could "fix it" though I am not so sure it is a "glitch"

So, if I am understanding things right, once you get to the task where they hide in the treehouse, they hide there for 24 hours, then Lisa has a twelve hour job, and then there's a task that says "Open 50 presents", and that's the end of Christmas?

It definitely seems like you should just send every character on the 8 hour task repeatedly for the entire season until you've got two days left, then just finish up Christmas. Is there any reason not to do it this way?
