Multiple of Same Houses?

Besides adding a 'town feel' to the neighborhood, do the houses pay off in the long run? They are pretty expensive to build, but I didn't know if maybe some of you build them to actually generate revenue/XP.

At the start of the game, yeah they can be pricey, but also a needed source of revenue. Eventually, not so much. I have multiples of each of the basic houses strictly for that "town feel." They probably account for 3-5% of my daily revenue nowadays.
