Neighbors not in Stonecutters event: Tapping or passing by?

Of course I tap for them. I only have a few, so why not? I understand that some people are having a tough time getting the event update. One frequent poster here has this problem. It only makes it worse on them to not be getting any handshakes. I don't want to punish people who potentially have tech issues with the game. Besides, it's not like you don't get anything out if it. You get money and a chance at a donut. It takes 2 seconds, it's not really a tough decision for me.
