@74hands - for those who had their game working the update was meant to prevent the issue.
For anyone stuck with the spinning donut and an EA account a re-install should solve it
For any anonymous towns they'll need to wait until they find a final fix

I didn’t have to delete and re-install the game, just installed the update, then hard closed the game and restarted it, all fine since then.

Extremely annoying. I've been playing since TSTO was released and we never had to jump through hoops like this.

Having the same issue. Spinning donut, have to hard close the game and restart, then enter month and year of birth, then game operates normally.
