I don't get why house farms are considered a bad thing though. I love to see a lot of houses in my town make up an entire neighborhood. I make sure to have plenty of space inbetween houses so that cars could drive and I have lamp posts dividing the houses. I go for a realistic look so having lots of houses looks natural for all the inhabitants.
As a confirmed hater of House Farms (which is a little hypocritical as I have one small one and a Gulp-N-Blow farm), I would be perfectly happy to see house farms if they actually look like a neighbourhood. It's well known that to get five stars on the Conform-O-Meter you need to have shop and house doubles, but not as many as some people have, and not all scrunched together!! Your Springfield sounds great actually, can you put a pic up of your "house farm"? I bet it wouldn't look like most peoples definition of a house farm!!
