They seem to sit still when you first find them. Then 30 seconds? in or so they start to move.

Sometimes when visiting the screen just zooms to the cube when I first enter the friends town. Should I be searching if it doesn't do this because there might be one there?
No, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it will always take you right to the cube.
I agree, seems to always take you tot he cube. Although sometimes it isnt obvious. Yesterday the screen zoomed to an area and I couldnt see a cube, but after few seconds one popped out from behind a building. So dont assume that there isnt a cube there if it isnt immediately obvious. :-)
