Me and dcline414 just performed a test.
Here's what we did.
I entered and re-enterd dcline's town for five minutes. In the mean time he scrolled through his town doing the usual stuff. In five minutes I entered his town about 45 times.
Then we switched. Again five minutes. During that time I collected from several buildings. I assigned new jobs for 7 characters. I moved a few trees and put down a new road.
Finaly, we entered each other's town for another five minutes.
On both sides there were no problems. No extra lag. No crashes. Dcline even switched to cellular to test at a lower connection speed.
I'm sorry, but in my opinion the friend-visit does not cause problems.
This does not mean I'm going to do this again and again, I don't need the money anyway. But condemning people who want to do this is just wrong. Let everyone play the way they want.
