Just started the second 4 hour task, I have had them be pretty accurate so far. Pacific time zone.
Those of us in the Pacific time zone live where the EA servers live. (EA servers, however do not observe Daylight Savings) We will match the calendar unless one of two things happens:
1. If we stay up until midnight and schedule our first task at that time, our FIRST task of the new day will match the FIRST task of the day before. All the other tasks (2, 3, and 4) will match tasks 2, 3, and 4 of the new day.
This is mostly right.
If you start tasks after midnight, the game will follow the schedule for the previous day UNTIL the time hits 8 AM GMT. Then, the game will follow the sequence for the following day.
If you work night shifts or are otherwise nocturnal, you can exploit this. For example, yesterday, June 16 was supposed to be 2-1-4-4, and today, June 17 is supposed to be 4-4-2-2.
I'm in the Eastern time zone (GMT -4). On June 17, at midnight EDT (4 AM GMT), I started the first task, which was the first 2-hr task from June 16. When it completed, I started the second task, which was the 1-hr task on the June 16 schedule. Then, I force closed the app and waited until after 4 AM (8 AM GMT) to come back and clear the second task, so that the third task would be from the June 17 schedule. As expected, the third task was 2 hours long.
This has been 100% predictable for me.
Oops. You make a good point. My post wasn't very well constructed. I was responding specifically to the person who remarked that they are in the Pacific time zone. I only used the phrase "those of us in the Pacific timezone" in the introductory statement. It would have been clearer if I had repeated that at the start of my numbered points.
BTW, there's an alternate straightforward way to recognize your schedule-pattern flip time. Instead of needing to be concerned with knowing GMT, just look at your Parchment Puzzle reset time. It IS based on 8AM GMT, but no math needed for the bleary eyed. (NOTE: I was dumb enough to think that California is ALWAYS GMT -8. It wasn't until this week that I learned GMT doesn't recognize Daylight Savings Time. So, my number of hours to "reset" time for the four tasks (where Number One tells me to "hurry" and finish my 4 tasks) is one hour less than the number of hours I see when I open my Parchment Puzzle screen.
That might be more confusing to many, but it sure helped me know at a glance what the timeframe was. :)
Annette: Sorry you are having game issues. :(
As we know, not everyone has the tasks resetting at midnight. But the phrasing "after midnight and before 8am GMT", or "after midnight and before parchment reset time", amount to the same thing.
Also, if you are relying on looking at the parchment to find the switch over, be aware that parchment tasks are going to end before the event ends! I don't know, but I'd assume that trick would stop working. Hence it would be a good idea now to commit to memory what time your parchment resets. I know.... people should have it memorized by then. Except those that don't!
Also, is DST going to go off or on where someone lives before the event ends? The game will still reset at 8am GMT, but their local time for that would then change.
Also, what if they take their device to another timezone and change the device settings?
So many cases....
