What changed with the Mystery Box Upgrade and Easter 2015 updates?

Got news van, Kearney, minnow pond, 10 donuts (aka "I'm gonna buy me a mystery box with those"), tire fire, 10 donuts. I stopped. It was like Vegas, except this time I didn't have to hitchhike home.

My Nighthawks town currentlly has, in its task list, quests going for Squeaky Voiced Teen, Kearney, AND Bluhaired Lawyer...(took screencaps .... ) Other than the donuts I won along the way, I purchased a dozen.

This was insane.
