What's the point of linking Facebook?

I'm leery about doing it. Not only for my privacy, but for the others on my friends list as well. I keep a low profile on Facebook and would like to keep it that way.

However, if you have an origin account, and a lot of FB friends who have linked accounts, then you can add all your friends if you're not one to add "random" people.
