I voted "Nope. You're an idiot. Are you done yet? Kill yourself." though I don't necessarily mean all that.
Ultimately, the current model works better for them. People don't want to pay to download a game, and they definitely don't want to pay a monthly subscription fee. Me, I'm foolish enough to be a completionist, but I would stop being one if I had to pay a recurring monthly fee--even though, objectively, the total amount I'd pay would probably be less.
Also, the max subscription fee I could justifiably envision for any mobile game would be $5/mo. For $10/mo, you would need a much more advanced, multiplayer game on a computer or console.
