Abandon Penalty issue

Was playing a game of ranked and my team lagged out. When attempting to leave I was prompted for an abandonment penalty so I remained in the match and was killed. I then returned to lobby and lost 48 RP and I received an abandonment penalty anyways. These server issues are really bad. I am in Houston Texas and my ping is usually 80-1000 ms when in a lobby with my friends. This needs to be looked into.
