FPS drops when playing local multiplayer in Play Now

I'm having a pretty bad performance issue when trying to play local multiplayer in Play Now on Xbox Series S.

When I play Play Now by myself with one controller, the game runs completely fine. As soon as I play with a second local player, though, the frame rate drops significantly. It gets extremely choppy and feels like the game is running at a fraction of the normal FPS. This isn't online/network lag since we're both playing locally on the same Xbox.

I've tried restarting Madden, restarting the Xbox, and changing the available graphics/display settings, but none of that has fixed it. The issue also happens consistently rather than just occasionally.

I have not tried reinstalling the game. I also haven't tested whether the same FPS drop happens in local multiplayer in Franchise mode, so right now I can only confirm that it happens in Play Now.

The biggest thing I've noticed is that I don't have these performance problems at all when playing by myself. It seems specifically related to having a second local player/controller active.
