@Straatford87 Tom we've had our discussions back channel but I'll list them here in the official thread.
Specialists are the one thing that kills my hype for this otherwise excellent Battlefield looking game. We need to be able to play as default US/Russian soldiers as part of a class and use the No-Pat Specialists as BF5 elites instead of locking roles and gadgets behind a "hero". I want to play Battlefield not Overwatch, not Siege, and definitely not Warzone.
All class weapons will kill any semblance of balance. In previous Battlefields one or two weapon classes were all class so everyone had a ranged and CQC option and you had to make a balance tradeoff, do I want the best AR or do I want to be able to kill vehicles. The traditional and well oiled paper/rock/scissors balance has now changed to rock/rock/rock balancing in 2042. The best execution was BF3 where SMGs and shotguns were all class. If we have total freedom to use any weapon we will inevitably see less weapon diversity on the Battlefield than in previous entries as everyone will be using the same weapon on all kits. Hey look 128 AEKs on the battlefield! DICE needs to bring back class weapon restrictions.
In a 128 man game mode we need 6-8 man squads not 4 man squads. 6 man squads like BF2 had will give 21 equal squads and 1 commander per side. If DICE doesn't add commanders 8 man squads yield 16 equal squads per side. larger squads are absolutely necessary if DICE continues the prohibition of spawning on squad mates under fire since that system has been finnickly since it debuted in BF4. The larger squad increases your chance of being able to spawn with your squad which will be much more vital in large 2042 maps. So in a 4 man squad on a huge map 1-2 squaddies will be dead, with the other two probably seen as under fire because a pigeon flew in their general direction splitting the squad on a huge map because you had to spawn on the nearest flag. splitting the squad will further erode the team play aspect.
Commanders - we desperately need them in a 128 man game mode or it will be absolute chaos like when we played 256 man MAG back on PS3. In fact DICE should use the BF2 fighting commander in lieu of the BF4 sitting on the toilet commander.
We need to bring back the parachute jump for all classes like we had through BF4. The jump roll from BF5 will not cut it when only one hero has a wing suit and we have a huge map.
- 4 years ago@ragnarok013 while i do like being able to use any weapon of my choosing, you make some excellent points.
i whole heartedly agree on bigger squads, The idea of having 128 man lobbies and only 4 man squads seems like a terrible idea.
great points!
