People don't have a problem with the concepts of specialists. They have a problem with the fact that the class system has effectively disappeared and it kills all hope for team work. You don't know if Boris on your team is carrying health or ammo. Your Boris looks like the enemy Boris. It's chaos.
The fix is simple. Put the specialists into classes and restrict their loadouts to certain items. If Boris is an engineer, he gets his special gadget and can carry a repair tool rocket launcher etc. but he does not carry ammo, health or recon balls. Give him a different outfit for Team Russia and Team USA
