We’re investigating an issue on PC where some players may experience a GPU driver crash when playing on maps with large bodies of water, including Tsuru Reef.

Based on our current data, the issue appears to affect NVIDIA GPUs, with reports more concentrated among players using GeForce RTX 50 Series cards. The issue does not appear to affect all players using these GPUs.

While we continue working with NVIDIA to identify a resolution, players experiencing repeated driver crashes are advised to temporarily roll back to NVIDIA driver version 596.49.

If crashes continue after rolling back, please share your GPU model, driver version, affected map, and any available crash report details in our Technical Issues page on our EA Forums, to help us narrow down the cause.

We’ll provide another update as soon as we have more information.

Thank you for your patience while we investigate.

  • I experienced the same issue with my NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070. After following the instructions and rolling back the NVIDIA drivers to version 596.49, I was able to play for about 40 minutes without any problems.

NVIDIA GEFORCE 5090 - PC crashed twice on driver version 610.74 and then once when rolled back to 596.49, all on TSURU REEF. I won't be booting up again until its fixed.

Roll back worked for me! Hopefully they will resolve this soon

  • The crash occurred twice on my system, once before downgrading the driver to the specified version and one after, both times on Tsuru Reef (both on escalation), I'll provide a link to the dxdiag of my system and both crash dumps (and two prints showing the crash).

System specs: I5-13420h, RTX 5060 8GB (over thunderbolt 4), RTX 3050 (turned off), 32GB of RAM and Windows 11 (26200.8875)

NVIDIA GEFORCE 4070TI - rolled driver back to 596.49, still crashes every match within a few minutes, no matter the map.  Most of them are hard crashes that restart my PC

    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080

    Driver: 610.74

    Affected map: Tsuru Reef

    Issue:

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG (GetDeviceRemovedReason)

Multiple crashes while loading Tsuru Reef.

Multiple crashes during gameplay on Tsuru Reef.

    Battlefield 6 is otherwise stable.

Played multiple matches on older maps today after the Season 4 update without a single crash.

    Troubleshooting:

    Cleared NVIDIA ComputeCache.

    Rebuilt shader cache.

    Additional information:

Battlefield crash dumps indicate "GPU Stopped Working" and "DeferredGpuProbes".

Issue is fully reproducible on Tsuru Reef.

Thank you for acknowledging the issue. Given that Tsuru Reef is one of the main Season 4 additions, I hope a hotfix can be prioritized. At the moment, the new map is effectively unplayable for me despite the rest of Battlefield 6 running without issues.

  • I have a 4070 Ti Super OC and I'm getting constant micro-stutters every 20 to 50 seconds, especially as soon as I get near water. I'm on NVIDIA driver version 610.74

  • I have the crash even after rolling back to 596.49

    GPU: RTX 5070
    Map/Mode: REDSEC (ranked)
