Hey everyone,
We are in the process of rolling out a new tool that some of you have already seen in a test + interview with one of our researchers. We call it the Nudging Tool.
What does it do?
Whenever someone creates a post or a comment/reply on EA Forums that includes content that would break our forum rules, the tool pops up and nudges the player to consider better behaviour by asking “Are you sure you want to share this?” and then explaining what the infraction is (usually a swear word).
Here an example of how this will look like for players on our forums. Note that this user hasn’t done anything wrong, we just overlayed the nudging tool here manually as an example because we didn’t want to show you a screenshot with curse words. 😀
Does the tool prevent people from posting?
No. The tool does not prevent you from posting even if you don’t change anything in your post. In the end it is your decision on how you want to express yourself. But if you break the forum rules, chances are high that one of our Community Managers will reach out to you about that.
Why are we doing this?
At EA, we believe in the power of positive play. Being part of a gaming community should mean that all players are safe, welcome, and included. Our forums can be read by players of all ages. The Nudging Tool will help remind us all to be kind to each other and make EA Forums a safer place.

Will the tool catch everything?
No. You might still come across some rude or offensive posts, no tech is 100% accurate. Please continue to use the report button to flag these posts with the Community Team.
What’s the roll-out plan?
We have already been testing this in some of the smaller English language communities but are rolling the nudging tool out to more communities. Here the list of all communities where this is enabled now:

- FC 26
- FC Mobile
- NHL 26
- Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes
- The Sims 4
