From the West Coast to worldwide, Morgan began the USWNT title defence in 2019 by netting five goals in a competition forever linked with her iconic “tea celebration” after sending her team to the final with a leaping header.
Zlatan Ibrahimović
A conqueror of world football, Zlatan is no stranger to silverware. A 2013 Puskás Award winner for an audacious bicycle kick against England, he’s collected league titles in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and France. The Swedish sensation tops his nation’s goalscoring honours with over 60 goals in twice as many games, finishing his career with over 30 major trophies, Zlatan is one of the most decorated footballers on the planet.
Marcelo
Successor to Roberto Carlos at Real Madrid, Marcelo became one of the best left backs in the history of the game. He left the Santiago Bernabéu with a haul of 25 trophies, including 6 LaLiga titles and 5 UEFA Champions Leagues. Marcelo became a Madrid mainstay, making him the first foreign captain since 1904 before returning to Fluminense in the twilight of his career to claim the Copa Libertadores before hanging up his boots.
Andrés Iniesta
A central figure in a midfield trio that defined the tiki-taka play of one of football's greatest ever teams, Iniesta is one of the most decorated Spanish footballers of all time. With an iconic Barcelona side, he won two historic trebles, 9 LaLiga titles, and four UEFA Champions Leagues. He also guided a golden Spanish generation to back-to-back Euros wins and scored a dramatic extra-time winner on the world stage in the 2010 final against the Netherlands.
Caroline Seger
An unshakable force in midfield, Seger racked up game after game for club and country, collecting league and European titles along the way. A career characterised by a combination of longevity and leadership, the Swedish captain grew to earn well over 200 caps over an 18-year international career, being crowned the most capped player in European history.
Francesco Totti
The definition of a one-club man. L'Ottavo Re di Roma rose from Roma’s youth ranks to spend his entire footballing career playing in the Giallorossi’s iconic yellow and red strip. A homegrown talent, Totti led his team to several titles across almost 800 games and a 20-year captaincy, including a Serie A title, two Coppa Italia victories, and two Supercoppa Italiana wins, netting over 300 goals in the process.
Toni Kroos
A pillar of one of football’s most iconic midfields, Kroos followed three Bundesliga titles at FC Bayern by dominating Europe with four LaLiga titles and four UEFA Champions Leagues, lifting the trophy on three consecutive occasions at Real Madrid. One of Germany’s most capped players with over 100 appearances, he topped the assist charts on the world stage in 2014, leading his country to a historic trophy lift.
Oliver Kahn
Der Titan. Between the sticks for well over a decade at FC Bayern, the Bundesliga title became routine for this German colossus. Six German Cups and a UEFA Champions League win added to a well-stocked trophy cabinet. Kahn also took his talent to the world stage, earning the Golden Glove in 2002 after keeping five clean sheets throughout the tournament and becoming the first, and only, goalkeeper to take home the Golden Ball.
Giorgio Chiellini
The towering Tuscan began his career at local club Livorno before a move to Turin immortalised him in black and white. Over 17 seasons, Chiellini led the Old Lady’s resurgence, leaving Juventus with 9 Scudetti, 5 Coppa Italia wins, and 5 Supercoppas. Following appearances in four UEFA European Championships for his country, his crowing international achievement came when captaining the Azzurri to victory at UEFA Euro 2020.
Cha Bum-kun
One of South Korea’s all-time top goal scorers and a true Bundesliga icon, Cha Bum-kun lifted both domestic and European trophies with Frankfurt and Leverkusen, racking up over 300 appearances in Germany. Earning the moniker Cha Boom, his net busting strikes became legendary, with a scoring record just shy of hitting 100.
Sissi
In 1999, Sissi delivered on the biggest international stage. Her standout form at Palmeiras earned her a spot in the national team, something she repaid by scoring seven goals and taking home the Golden Boot. She kicked off the tournament with a stylish hattrick against Mexico that included two stunning free kicks as Pelé watched on from the stands.
