Hey sims team,
Firstly, I would like to say that I think the Sims 4 is headed in such a positive direction, and I’m very happy to see that you are giving us an opportunity to offer our perspective on the game. With that in mind, I have a few thoughts about the game, and some gameplay related mechanics that I would like to see changed in order to further improve our in-game experience.
One thing that has bothered me from since the very beginning, is the fact that sims do not want to sit down, whether it is during a wedding, a movie, or at a restaurant... etc. It’s especially frustrating to have a cohesive wedding ceremony when everyone on the lot seems to show up halfway through the vows. It should only start when all of the sims at the wedding have taken their seats. Moreover, when I go out to dinner with my sims, npc’s seem to aimlessly walkabout the restaurant and rarely ever sit down to eat their meals, and movies are merely a hassle when sims are getting up from their seats every 10 seconds.
Secondly, I really do like the approach on emotions in this game, however, at times, it seems as though it takes over their entire personality. They seem to always be in a good mood, and I believe it would be more realistic if sims would be fine more often than happy. Too many things seem to trigger happiness for sims, such as the ‘nicely decorated’ moodlet, and it just seems to me that this buff should be applied more frequently to sims who have the perfectionist trait, rather than all of my sims at any given time of the day. Also, why are all sims afraid of thunder all of a sudden? It just does not seem realistic to have every sim afraid of something that most people grow out of by the time they are eight years old. Being afraid of thunder is fine for the odd sim, but shouldn’t be something I have to purchase a trait for in order for them not to be afraid of it anymore.
Thirdly, I would really appreciate some sort of ‘forget relationship’ interaction for all of the acquaintances I have under my sim’s contacts. There are just way too many acquaintances, as well as sims my sim has met for only a minute, and I would like to clean up their contact list a bit.
Lastly, I feel as though random townies seem to harass my sims everywhere I go. I can’t go to a restaurant without a sim hovering over our table, desperately trying to enter my sims’ conversations. I go to the gym only for some townie to mentor my sim, which I never asked for. I have townies almost every day knock at my sims door, who I do not know, and I constantly have to use the “send home” interaction. I would not mind if these things happened once in a blue moon, but townies are ALWAYS gravitating towards my sims, and this is something that does not happen in the real world, unless someone is interested in dating you and wants your number. On that same note, I would highly appreciate if my sims could have love interests. Are they into men, women, maybe both? Did someone at the bar catch their eye? Do they have a build preference? Do they seek sims who have certain traits?... stuff like that. As well as maybe, a crush, or a love at first sight? It could make dating rather interesting and make it so that not everyone is attracted to everyone.
I hope this was helpful, and I’d love to continue to see this game grow! Good luck!:)
