Information This list contains common reported gameplay issues.The devs/QA are aware of the issues but it doesn't necessarily mean they are confirmed bugs or that issues that are no longer on this list aren't still on their plate. This list is completely independent on how QA works. It's an overview of current reported issues so the user can find them easily and add their voice to them. There's currently six different categories of issues that are on this list OPEN: These are issues that have lots of reports/me toos. Tag will still appear on the list but threads will no longer be tagged. UNSURE: These are issues that might be by design. (NEEDS) INFO/SAVES/VIDEOS: QA has answered in this threads and they either need more information or saves as they have issues duplicating the issue. In rare cases there will be questions from me on these threads as it's an issue that caught my interest. [FR] Tenant's Names X'd Out

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? The bug occurs when a Residential Rental lot has a new tenant placed. It can occur when they are placed from Manage Worlds or when your played sim fills a vacancy for a Residential Rental unit they own through the UI in Live mode. What happens when the bug occurs? After placing the tenant in the residential unit when you view the property in Manage Worlds or in Travel mode the tenant’s name appears as a series of X's over the household’s surname. What do you expect to see? The household’s surname listed without being X’d out. Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them. Bathtub problems
Hey, i do not care if this is already on this board, it is up to you to solve it. When familymembers hit the tub, they dive in with clothes and after five to ten seconds they are without clothes. Afterwards they walk naked (blurred) around the house for also five to ten seconds. How oh how doesn't matter, when do you fix this?407KViews0likes0Comments
[NOT BUG] Sim dies while I'm not playing the family, now I can't find her urn
It was an elder sim, I switched family to play, and she dies while I'm playing another family. Now I can't find her urn or tombstone anywhere on the lot, not on her family member, or in the family objects box. After the release of Cats and Dogs Heeeeey Crin, not sure if there's another thread in here or not, but I didn't see one. So my sims won't sleep. At all. Ever. It was fine to begin with, but I've been playing the same family for a few hours now, and they've stopped sleeping. I put them to bed, they sleep for an hour or two and then get out of bed. Some information: I noticed the bug while using CC, but I can replicate it with and without CC. Have had the same issue with YA and Toddlers- Child/Teen/Adult/Elder untested. Am living in an apartment, but this occurs constantly without any noise coming from neighbours. Doesn't matter how tired they are or what time of day I send them to bed, they always get back out again. Happens even when their other motives are 100% full. It was weird to begin with, but now it's just annoying. Any ideas? P.s. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with extended play time of the game or of a particular family, as the game has currently been running the same family for the last 6 hours. P.P.s. [FIXED] [DU] Term presentation board gone/not received and can't get it back

Somehow lose the term presentation board, and realise you can't get it anywhere else What happens when the bug occurs? My sims lost their presentation boards, and can't buy it somewhere else. They will now fail the class because they can't deliver. What do you expect to see? For the game not to delete my board, and to allow me to get it back when it does happen. Neutral/Not Sure I'm not 100% certain this belongs here but here it goes... I have two sims enrolled in university. During their first term, only one of them had a presentation board. He completed it, delivered it, it disappeared, done. Now in the new term, both of them have to deliver a presentation but neither of them were given a board. I'm not 100% sure how they disappeared, because my game experiences the bug where if I don't save before travelling, my sims' inventories don't update as they do and items get lost into the void. It could be that. But it could also be that the game just never gave the boards as the new term started. All of which wouldn't be the worst if I could just buy a new board somewhere, but that seems impossible? Not from the kiosk or from build/buy. I'm now coming up on the end of the second term and they're going to fail because they don't have the presentation. I was hoping somewhere here had a solution/fix/are familiar with this "bug." My sims (my mermaid) just started attending college and she is supposed to have a board to present on but doesn't. She has done all her homework and her term paper, just can't do this. [FIXED] [GF] Acting Career Sim not getting gig pop-up

Have a sim in the Acting career. Take a gig. Travel to another location. What happens when the bug occurs? Gig is assigned a date/time. That date/time will come and go and never get the option to go to the gig. What do you expect to see? Sim actually goes to the gig. Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them. Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes Please describe the patch or change you made. Update patch to version 1.62.67.1020 Sims no longer go to the acting gigs at all. The notification "Sim has work in 1 hour" never appears. Appointed date/time of the gig comes and goes, nothing happens. Cancelled the gig three times and it never happens. Tried with and without mods, tried changing acting companies. Problem occurs when the sim takes a gig and travels to another location. After traveling, the date/time of the gig will come and go and you'll never get the option to go. [NEEDS SAVES] Grim reaper wont collect the dead, household stuck
Yesterday a old lady died in a bar and everybody was sad. After a houre the body is still lying on the floor and grim reaper stays outside the bar. My household cant get home, because someone was "dying". Later a second woman died at the same place and still grim reaper wont come inside to collect the souls. Anyone els had that problem? The Sims series wouldn't be what it is without Mods and Custom Content. A lot of people use it and that's totally fine. EA doen't official support mods though and you'll be using them at your own risk. A mod is something that changes the game code and because of this, each and every mod needs to be checked with every new patch or they can cause issues. Custom content such as clothing and hair can also become obsolete but not as often. For the bug forum, this means that you should Test your game without mods Remove all your mods BEFORE the patching process and only put them back if the creators says it's ok to use. Please do NOT report anything before you have done this. There's a lot of legit issues around and EA doesn't look into errors with mods. Dine Out has a few problems that are hard to separate, so I've decided to merge. Also some might just be design choices Below you'll find a list of known issues and a few things to consider when building a restaurant. They are taken from my blog article here: [Dine Out] Issues and Workarounds I'll be merging all of these issues in here. The Chefs never cook anything: The chef will act as if he cooks but no dish ever occurs on the tray/window of the cooking station. Food is not being served: The waiters don't actually serve the food. They either never get it from the tray/window or they get it and drop it on the floor. Sims never get seated: Sims just stand around the podium and are never seated. They just talk and talk. If there's a bar, they stand next to the bar and talk. Sims don't eat their food: Sims sit in front of a full plate but never eat it. They do consume their drinks. Sims get up to drink: Once served Sims get up to drink their drink and then either never sit back down or sit down but never touch their food. --> FIxed in Patch 1.24.102 Sims get up to mingle with other guests: Sims get up a lot and just go over to other tables to chat. Sometimes they take their food with, sometimes they just leave their food. I also see them eating on benches or on the dance floor Single Sims join already seated groups/groups join other single Sims: Sometimes a Sim or a group of Sims will join an already seated group that has possibly already ordered. This leads to food not being eaten or Sims never leaving. They look like late-comers but it's hard to tell. Sims never leave: Sims have eaten but then never leave and hence never pay. Employees don't show up: My employees are still employed yet they don't show up for work or just stand outside without coming in. Sims are not seated in a logical matter: Some of the tables are always empty and sometimes smaller groups are seated at big tables although there's smaller ones available. This leads to larger groups being split up. Sometimes farther away tables are preferred towards closer ones. Restaurant is only loosing money when opened while not on the lot: Soon after opening the restaurant while not on the lot, I get a message that my restaurant is loosing money. Booth don't snap into place or disappear: When I try to place a booth, it just disappears or doesn't snap to the table. Eating at the restaurant takes forever: When I go to a restaurant with my active Sim, it takes hours until they finish their meal. Only one course gets served: I've ordered a few courses but only one gets served. Routing Issues with praising/criticizing: When trying to interact with the staff, they often stand at a completely different space to react Resetting on cleaning dishes: Waiters reset when trying to clean up the same plate Employees are very hard to please: My employees are constantly unsatisfied Meals take a long time to finish: Going to dinner takes a long time. Employees don't wear assigned outfit Guests go jogging/dance or do other stuff instead of staying and waiting for their order The following tips should help with a few of the above issues although it's all still a bit inconclusive. Make sure that the chief station windows and trays are free. This means, don't place any tables/plants near the window/tray and do not use moveObjects or the ALT key to place decoration around it. Please see Food not being server/cooked for details. Make sure your employees are happy. Praise them and give them raises on a regular basis. Also pay for training. It might be costly at the beginning but it will pay off. Don't let your employees work to long. If you're getting a message that they are getting tired, disallow new guest and then close your restaurant. Move around your tables and kitchen if you have lots of Sims gathering in weird places. The bar and aquarium are a place for them to mingle so if it gets annoying, remove those Don't place a bar close to the podium. Find another space for it. Make sure you have room for the employees to roam about. Don't make the seating too tight. If you use the restaurant mostly to own and not go out with large groups yourself, build more smaller tables instead. I've never seen a group larger then 4 Sims visiting my restaurant. Make sure you use the right boot for the right table. The long booth fits any 2x1 table (except the bar height table) and the corner booth fits any 1x1 table. It's also not possible to place two booth opposite of each other with one table. To avoid the initial seating madness in your own restaurant, open the restaurant from home and then travel there. Once you arrive the guests will be already seated. You get a message you're restaurant is loosing money right away as the costs are higher than what you earn before they actually pay for their food. Wait a bit and check the financial report if the Sims are actually paying and if it gets better after a while before traveling there. Also make sure your employees are not angry at you. I think the length of the meal has to do with general clock issues. As long as you don't have to wait for hours (in which case food will never come anyways), I would say, that is normal. You can only order one course at the time. Once that is being served, you can order the next one. Ordering them at the same time, overwrites the first order. If you see food being dropped to the ground as well as glasses being dropped and you're using MC Command Center, try if it gets better if you turn of the Put away books fix. If your guests are not being served, check if you can offer them free food/drinks or prioritize their meals. Wait with welcoming the guests until they are seated. In my experience, it distracts them from being seated properly Be patient. Sometimes they like to talk first before going up to the host.Most jams at the host station will clear up eventually. Lock doors to your kitchen. Build a fence and a gate if you don't want to have it closed. If you have microwave and coffee machine, the Sims will just waltz into your kitchen and stay there forever. Make sure to put your trash can into a closed room/fenced off area as well. Angry Sims will otherwise kick them all the time or foodies go rummage in them. Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Run any new game and introduce your Sim to others. After completing a Welcome Wagon event seems to bring multiple Sims in for best friend requests. What happens when the bug occurs? Sims you have formally met walk into your home uninvited and ask to be best friends. Sometimes multiple Sims enter, all asking to be best friends. Adult Sims are also asking teens. What do you expect to see? I expect Sims to not enter uninvited and ask to be best friends. I also don’t expect Adults to ask younger Sims to be best friends. Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them. Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? High School Years install I had a mod to help with Spellcaster learning but it was removed and I ran a file repair to be certain there was not corruption. They are already engaged, but when I select the 'Plan Marriage' option the option is erased and says that it is not possible to get married because Sim works for me and before I would have to dismiss her, but the problem is that she does not work for me, she's a doctor. I now think it must be at least a programming oversight if not a bug. I have seen on a forum it suggested to age her down in CAS to teen, wash her face then age up again but she is a twin about a week in to young adult life so it would ruin game play unless I can cheat her days? What do you expect to see? either young adult and older sims to not have acne OR young adult and older sims to be able to wash their face and cover with make as well. The sims are unable to enter the house through 'go here' or using an object, resplacing the door and removing the wall does not fix the issue as the sims are unable to find a path. [FIXED] Can't change lot type
Walkaround method: 1. Load up any household and have them buy the problem lot. 2. Upon buying you will be then transported to the lot. It shall be set to Retail no matter what it was beforehand. 3. Buying it as Retail fixes the Generic issue but you will not be able to change the lot type while you own it (similarly how you can't change the lot type of a residential house with sims actively living on it) 4. Sell the lot on behalf of your household. This will then enable the lot type changing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Original post: Couldn't find a simiar thread so I thought I'd post. I've got a lot in Windenburg that I cannot change the type of, the button is greyed out and it's stuck as "Generic". It's the 30x20 park lot in the modern part of WB. I've read somewhere that it's a glitch that has no walkaround, except loading an earlier save or starting a new game. But there must be a way because it happened to me before with the big lot in Newcrest. The lot was empty and stuck as "Retail" I believe, and wouldn't let me change because the venue was "Special". it eventually sorted itself out (not really sure what exactly fixed it) because I can now edit the type without any problems. I can move sims onto that lot but the lot is still set to "Generic" even with sims living on it. :-/ If I place any non-Generic lot on top of it, the new lot's type changes to "Generic" too. This is really annoying because I wanted to have a community venue on there, so even if I build it somewhere else then place it here, it'll be stuck as "Generic" and receive no visitors... P.S. I've got 2 earlier saves I can use but they all have this issue. Starting a new game is out of the question for me.Solved143KViews11likes83Comments
[WORKAROUND] Can't click anything beyond the UI
MAJOR UPDATE! EA or Maxis just released a patch not but 10 minuites ago, fixing this bug, at least for me. I wanted to say thanks to everyone who tried to help, including EA staff. Thanks for the patch, also. I recently bought the sims 4 from EA's digital distribution service origin. no disc. And i booted up the game I fiddled with a few settings and controls, etc. I went into create a sim, and made a 3 person family. I went and did the tutorial, up to the part were it gave you an inspired mood, and told you to cook something. When i tried to click the fridge, I couldn't. I couldn't click anything but the UI for that matter. I screwed with settings a bit, turned everything all the way down, adjusted resoloution, etc, etc. I found a way to turn off tutorials with game boot options. So i did. Still broken. What do you expect to see? My sim should be able to work on the required presentation. Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them. Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No My sim is still enrolled in the class requiring the presentation but cannot start working on it. Hey there Simmers, We know that many of you enjoy using Mods to help shape and change the game in different ways and you are aware that here on AHQ we have a standing rule that links for Mods are a no-go. This rule is not changing. But we have recognized that some Mods have become standard go-to's for fixing some smaller game issues that have not been addressed so far, and that it has been frustrating to both community members and our AHQ Heroes and Champions not to be allowed to share them here. With this being said, we have given permission for this thread to be here because we are hoping that it will help you, our players, to play. It will be maintained by our Heroes and Champions to house links to mods that they support as solutions to common game issues. To affirm: EA, Maxis, and the AHQ team have not verified these mods, their safety to your PC, or game. We encourage you to use safe practices when downloading and utilizing any Mod from any location by using appropriate anti-virus/anti-malware tools and checks. Happy Simming!
