Stop bogus notification please

I kept receiving notification from simcity buildit, something totally trash like your sims hold an election to call new mayor, or your sims missed you.

Some are false message like your cargo ship is arrived (no, it is still have 4 more hours to arrive), your new cargo airplane arrives (no, it is 10+ hours),

you just sold an item on GTHQ, (sorry, it is sold 5 hours ago, and I am offline for several hours, simcity has no way to get GTHQ information on an offline device). Obviously, those messages are not real game status, but only cheap tricks to asking you click the app.

The most annoyed part is I already disabled all notifications from game setting, I still get it every hour!

Please, devs, you are insulting my IQ by playing those tricks.

You didn't mention if you are playing on Android, iOS, or some other platform.

On Android, select settings then apps.  Make sure you select Downloaded and find the SimCity app, and select it.  You should get a screen that shows you options to Force Stop, Uninstall, and Clear Data.  (Don't select those, I'm just mentioning them for reference!)  You should also see a checkbox that is labeled Show Notifications.  Make sure it is unchecked, and the game should stop sending you game notifications when it is not running.  BTW, this works for any app that has notifications that are bugging you.

There should be similar settings on other devices, but I don't have those settings handy at the moment.

  • You may be aware of the following, but I'm going to cover it anyway in case other people who see this thread and don't know how to do it want guidance.

On iOs devices, do the following:

    - Power up/access your device as usual to the home screen

    - Click on the grey "Settings" button

    - "Notifications" should be located as the 5th item in the menu on the left of the screen if your device is like mine. Click on it

    - The notifications menu that loads up on the right should have Apps that are included then apps that are not included for notifications. Ensure that SCBI is in the "Do Not Include" section

    - If SCBI is in the "Include" section, then click on it.

    - A new menu should open up, showing a green dot on the "allow notifications" selection at the top of the screen. This obviously indicates that notifications are set to on.

Once you tap on the green dot turning it to the off position (indicated by going grey), SCBI should move from the "include" list to the "do not include" list of notifications in the previous menu.

Theoretically this should stop you from getting notifications from the game.

So, your in-game setting for notification is just a decoy? You can't control it from your in-game setting?

@ranma33 -- Keep in mind that we are just other players volunteering our time here and cannot speak for EA.  That said, I believe that the in-game setting reduces or eliminates the notifications on some, but not all devices.  Fortunately, the device itself can eliminate all of the notifications if you follow the steps shown earlier in the thread for both Android and iOS.  Also, for anyone who is reading this well in the future from now, the various operating systems are likely to undergo further changes and revisions, but the steps should be similar, even if worded slightly differently.
