Re: Advertise automatically checked!

Yes there is, you just have to be more careful and adjust your trading style. Communicate through facebook. Confirm they're in your city. Put items up one at a time. Have them constantly refresh until they see it and snag it immediately. Have them confirm each item before placing the next one.  Also have them confirm they have the room in their inventory before you even get started.
You'll never loose a trade done that way.

Well, use extra, extra caution -- still something can go wrong: when I traied to put the special items from one city to another, I was in my city! More than that, when I saw my locks checked for global trade, I immidietly put them to the trash can, giving away not only them but also my green sim-dollar in vain hope that no one will notice! Yet the next moment all the other items were gone (bought for funny money) by some unknown players...

All your other items were gone?  If you only traded one item at a time you would have only had 1 item gone, not all of them.  I hate the checkmark also, but even before this checkmark I would only trade one item at a time, even when I'm trading with my daughter sitting right next to me.  When trading, not more than one item at a time goes up and don't put another one until the first is confirmed as received.

You're so right about trading one item at a time! In my unhappy case I already put quite some items for the inner exchange, when tragically the last one I added (5 locks!) got checked for global exposure... Oh well ☹️

I trade with people in different time zones. It's not coordinated (both online at the same time). So while it seems acceptable to do it one at a time, it's not practical in my case.

Simply put: one mistake and whatever is in your depot is gone!

Not sure what benefit it is. There are plenty of items on sale theae days (but maybe because people forgot to uncheck the box).

It seems to be the main motif -- they implemented this auto-check in direct attack to insiders trading. Somehow, hamburgers are still abundant 🙂

Something I would never do.  If you can't be on when I am to pick it up as I'm putting it down, then maybe you need a different trading partner.

Insider trading? Oh, man, I don't want the SEC breathing down my neck and sending me up the river like Martha Stewart!

Oh wait, this is an online game we're talking about. Lol

What do you mean by insider trading? Trading with yourself?

As for trading partners, I trade with friends and family. They know what is theirs because I agreed to put X, Y, and Z out there for them and they don't take what isn't theirs. We all have families and lives to live ao being online at the same time is almost never convenient.

They're changing the default behavior for reasons I don't comprehend. The change can be detrimental. Once one item ia advertised, everything is subject to poaching. If it was limited to what you advertise, okay, I screwed up and lose that one item. But when one mistake is catastrophic and yiu lose the whole trade depot, that's either poor/stupid design or done purposely for reasons somebody needs to explain.

That too -- I have two different cities and periodically pass the necessary items from one to another. It may be a little bit unfair but the Android phone version is soo slow on any connection between cities -- it's not funny, you basically are late to any training post even to buy metall! So the Android city of mine needs a little help from its older brother, as I see it.

You definitely have special rates for each other and sell, I guess, the most rear items, right? That makes all the sense to me, but people in EA probably are concerned with the greater happiness of an abstract public, who do not get from you not the special rates nor the rear items! (Boo-hoo...) 🙂 So they make you share (here is some socialism for you as it was predicted 😉)

I suppose they could do something SUPER STUPID and make everything advertise and not let you uncheck it.

But then they would lose the ability of forcing people to spend sim cash to dispose of items in the trade depot or spend sim cash to advertise faster.
