Re: Problem with the installation of SimCity Societies: Destinations

Hi @fdhasdhaewjerw - Unfortunately, you have a couple of issues. First, SimCity Societies: Destinations is a DLC, so unless you have the SimCity Societies base game installed, it is not going to run as a standalone game. Secondly, old CDs for games like SimCity Societies will absolutely not run on modern systems. They were made with a special kind of copy protection called SecuRom.

The only way to run these games now is to get a digital copy. The Origin store does have SimCity Societies available, and the Destinations DLC is bundled with that version, so you won't have to install it from the DVD. If the DVD is actually the base game bundled with the DLC, you'll still probably not be able to install it. If you've had the DVD for a while and purchased it new & unopened, you'll need to contact EA support and ask them to add it to your account. They will probably ask for some kind of purchase verification. **see below for more info

I'm not clear on whether there are any installation problems with the digital copy of SCS. There are a few posts regarding installation issues, but they're from several years ago. If you purchase and run into issues, check This Post and This Post for some troubleshooting ideas.

**If you bought the CD used, it's likely that the codes were already registered on Origin and therefore would not be transferable to your account. Once a game is registered in Origin, the promo code cannot be sold or transferred to another person's account. If this is the case, I would suggest returning to the seller and explaining that you can't use it.
