Assuming you’re either at the first stage which is the cell stage or you’re at the second stage which is the creature stage, you’ll want to eat so that you’re cell can start growing to a bigger size but also avoid getting eaten by bigger cells looking to survive and progress to the next stage. 

Assuming now you've progressed to the second stage you will then have loads of fun designing your creature to either be a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore which judging by your choices will have your creature eating fruits, meats or a mixture of both. 

Once you have eaten enough and evolved enough as a creature you will then move onto the tribal stage, just know that once you have moved onto the tribal stage you can’t change what your creature looks like so make sure your creature isn’t how you want it.

But even if your creature isn’t like the way you want (like how many times I moved on with a later idea of what’s my effect creature would look like and need) I remember I would restart a new game.
