Re: All EA sports games are shutting my xbox one console completely off!!!!😡

@CMED89

Do you still need help with this? It's upsetting to hear they are shutting down the console, I can see why you would be concerned about this.

Have you tried anything from your end to see if there are any changes like changing up the outlet or surge protector the console is being plugged into, changing the power settings on the XB1, or power cycling the console?

At what point exactly in game is it shutting down your console?

How to power cycle your Xbox console:

  1. Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button  on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.
  2. Unplug the console’s power cable. Wait 10 seconds.

Important Be sure to wait 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.

  1. Plug the console power cable back in.
  2. Press the Xbox button  on your console to turn on the Xbox One.

    I have started encountering this issue since the Season 8 update. It occurs arbitrarily. It does not occur at any other time, or in any other game. I work in the technical profession and have tried all the power-off/drain-flea-power, different outlet, etc. steps . . . without success. This is the only game that is now shutting down my XBox One console entirely. As a matter of fact, each time this occurs I am unable to power my console back on without disconnecting fully from the outlet, draining the flea-power, and starting from scratch. Highly irritating . . . especially when this occurs in the middle of dropping from the ship right from the start of a match. Sometimes I'm able to go through all the steps again and get back into the match . . . but mostly this doesn't happen. I believe there to be some sort of errant code that's sending some kind of kill-switch command that is simply killing my console (basic explanation I know) at random times. But I also fairly-regularly get booted from the servers entirely. I've been with Apex since the very beginning. Love this game! Hate to see its apparent decline with technical back-end support/maintenance. I'm really hoping an engineering team can review this to find the bug(s). Apex Legends has been, far and away, the SINGLE game I've played most on my console. (And believe me, I've spent A LOT of time in other games over the years.) I'm not really a 'great' combatant. Probably average . . . maybe, but it's been a great source of frustration and enjoyment (and social interaction). I also own Titanfall and Titanfall 2 (please make Titanfall 3!!!) Would really hate to have to look elsewhere for more technical stability in a game because the arbitrary shutdowns are killing my console's life. Thank you for all you do, seriously. I simply hope that someone will look into this issue since it appears I am not the only one encountering it. (Not from just reading these forums either.)

    Please help . . . thank you.

    Follow-up: Yesterday I completely uninstalled Apex Legends, hard-rebooted (flea power drain) and installed the game again from scratch. (Hated having to do that since it is such an enormous download but was without other options.)

    This also proved to be unsuccessful. Other than a new console, which is not currently an option financially, I'm at a loss. Last-ditch effort will be to try a third-party power brick . . . which still doesn't make sense to me since my console does not do this with ANY other game. Bizarre . . .

    @Astro1derboy1

    Do you use an external hard drive and is Apex Legends the only game it's happening to?

    Also, this is probably a dumb question to ask but have to make sure...do you have any dust or objects blocking the ventilation for the console? Is it pushed up against a wall where it could overheat? Is the console hot when this happens? I remember some players were experiencing something similar in the Battlefront II forums and it eventually turned out to be a hardware issue where they avoided it with the fan blowing cold air at the console to help reduce the heat.

    Another thing to bring up is whether you've changed any of the power settings on it lately. Not sure if switching up the power settings could make an impact.

    This would be important to raise in the Apex Legends forums to see if others are also experiencing this, so we can start to gather more reports in the event this is more widespread than originally believed.

    Thank you for your reply. Yes, I originally encountered this with Apex Legends having been installed on an external drive. I then moved the files over to the internal drive. Each without success. Thinking that possible bad sectors on the external drive wouldn't have changed the scenario (if simply moving a corrupted install over), I completely uninstalled Apex. Hard-rebooted (clearing cache, draining flea power, etc.) and installed it fresh to my internal hard-drive. This was also unsuccessful. I logged a case file directly with your team at EA (#75146598) but nothing has worked yet. No other games have produced these symptoms except my EA ones (unfortunately my two most-played games; Apex Legends and Titanfall2). I've not changed any power settings. What's crazy is I've never had this issue with ANY game before, including Apex Legends from since the very beginning, until Season 8 . . . and Season 8 worked perfectly for about 5-6 days.

    @Astro1derboy1 Is your console warm/hot at all when it shuts down?

    I was actually playing War Zone a few days ago and my new Series X shut down out of nowhere. I looked it up and it there's a variety of factors. Strange it's happening to your console with only Apex Legends. We're not seeing other reports on this though to indicate a widespread issue, which leads me to believe it could be hardware related.
