Re: Constant Engine Error 0x887A0006 Crashes

Hey @Supreme-King-01

In the past I've seen cases where reinstalling the graphics drivers can help with errors like this. I've also heard from others who've said that updating their BIOS has helped as well.

If you're able to give that a shot I'd appreciate it. Let me know if you still run into this same error message afterward. Thanks!

  • Hi @EA_Kent,

    I've done both suggestions as you've mentioned, reinstalled graphics drivers and updated my BIOS but just played today and 35 minutes into Apex, my game crashes with the same error message.

    Thank you for giving that a shot!

    When you have the chance can you share a DxDiag so we can take a look? You can find more information on how to pull one up at the EA Help website. Once you have the text file please attach it to this thread. Thanks again!

    @Supreme-King-01

    Thank you! I appreciate that.

    Have you had the chance to try running the Windows System File Checker on your PC? If there's an issue with any missing or corrupted system files that should recover them, which may help with the crashes.

    You can find more info on how to run the System File Checker at the Microsoft Support website. Please let me know how that goes once you've had the chance to give it a shot. Thanks!

  • @EA_Kent Hi I have the same issue. I did the same process as you mentioned and here is the result but the issue still persists. Attached screenshots for your reference. I ran the checker and then installed the missing files. Attached the cbs log and also the sceenshot from the run. The problem still exists. I believe alot of other people also have the same issue with this error.

    Hi @shar125z,

    Thanks for the info!

    Would you also mind sharing a DxDiag when you have the chance? For more information on how to pull one up check out the EA Help website. Once you have the text file please share it here. Thanks again!

    @shar125z

    Thank you! I appreciate it.

    Do you currently have your video card overclocked? If so, can you try reverting it back to the factory clock speed to test and see if that makes any difference?

    Also, if you currently have G-Sync enabled can you try disabling it to see if anything changes as well?

    Thanks again!

  • This topic is marked as having a solution, what is the solution?

    I have only played this game for less than a month and started having this same issue 3 days ago. I have updated bios, updated graphics drivers, rolled back graphics drivers, disabled any overclocking, run file checker, repaired easy anti cheat, unistalled game/steam and completely removed files from the system, attempted to run in clean boot with no background processes, all suggestions listed available online and still it persists. I can't even stay on the home screen for more than 30 seconds before I get this or any number of errors relating to graphic textures unable to be created.

    Hey @Smashy9000

    What type of video card are you using? Could you share your DxDiag when you've got the chance?

  • RTX 2070. What exactly are you looking for in the dxdiag? There's some identifying info in there, so I'd rather not share on a public forum.

    After a considerable amout of time trouble shooting software issues, I'm starting to believe that this may be a hardware issue. Although my graphics card is only 2 years old, I believe it is failing. I plugged into the native on board graphics processor and was able to load into the game with no crashes. Obviously it was laggy and looked terrible, but it didn't crash. I then borrowed a freind's GTX 1660 Super and could tell immediately that it was stable. I have initiated contact with the manufacturer and hope to receive a replacement card. I will update as soon as I get a replacement for anyone that may have this problem in the future.

    @Smashy9000

    Thanks for following up! Hopefully they're able to help you get a replacement. Feel free to share any updates here when you have the chance.

  • I finally received my replacement card and the game is stable. I was able to swap it in and get to playing for a few hours with no errors or crashes. In my case, I tried anything and everything software wise and it turned out to be a failing card. I hope this helps someone in the future.
