Re: battlefield 4 audio problems?

I moved your post to the BF4 area. As for a fix try this..

C:\Users\your PC Name\Documents\Battlefield 4

BF4 folder in my documents holds game configs and screen shots even if BF4 is installed on different drive. When you uninstall BF4 it does NOT remove this folder. So when you install the game again you can still have the same issues. Even if its not a new install it is still worth trying as the game cfg could be mucked up.

1- Go to my Documents and remove BF4 folder place it on your Desktop or trash.
2- Be warned you do have to set up your in game settings again.
3-Repair BF4
4- When done go test your game. If it fails reboot your PC and run repair game again and test BF4.

  • Ok I tried that and sadly it didn't work 😩 I did lose 30 fps but I Managed to fix that with a couple tweaks that I had in the old cfg file, I have also tried to set the audio quality to 4 and still nothing but thanks for your help I guess I'll have to deal with it

Did you install /check for a driver for the headset? I am thinking you need to set up the headset in windows sound. Once you do this then go ingame and set sound to war taps cant recall what it is in cfg this sec....as it gives best sound. Keep me posted and I will help you more if need be as this can be fixed we just need to find the correct fix for your PC.

If your headset has the driver installed on your PC try uninstalling it via Device Manager.

    Press Win+R

    Type devmgmt.msc hit enter

Your device will be under 'Audio inputs and outputs'

Select your device and right click it then press uninstall

    Restart your PC

Plug the input device back in and the driver should install.

I do not recommend doing killerwhalsam steps as it will give you a generic driver and to fully fix this it is best to get the most up to date driver for your headset off the makers website for the headset.

  • But it could be a compatibility error with the Driver and BF4.

Try Zorlaacs steps first as I intended and if they fail to work maybe there is a compatibility issue there and therefore use the generic driver.

Ok I have tried to find a driver but it looks like there is no drivers? And I litterally can't find the device in device manager I mean it's works, I think it's like a plug and play sort of thing, I have tried it in other games and it works perfectly it just as soon as I plugged this Mic in and tried to play Bf the sound went all weird been playing for a couple months with just speakers and they were fine

Who makes the headphones ? So have you tried this yet? In task bar by clock ... right mouse click speaker and pick volume control options, then look for your headset and check it off, from this go back to speaker by clock again only this time pick sounds and make sure headphones are default device and right mouse click on it and configure speakers. Then go to recording tab and make sure the microphone for your head set is checked off. See if this helps. Other then this make sure your sound card drivers are up to date.

  • Ok just to clarify my headset doesn't have a usb it's just an aux cable and the other one for my mic (can't remember the name) and when I plug it in the pc thinks its speakers so it labels my headset as that.
my sound card is up to date and my headset is sades sa-708
I don't think it has much to do with my speakers or headset it's more on the game side

Ahh ok so its two separate pices. Just to rule it out I would uninstall your motherboard sound card driver then reboot pc then install it again. When done reboot pc and test BF4

Edit..... give this a try if you have it installed....

Uninstall the HD Audio Driver from the video card driver install add/remove programs. This silly thing makes issues in BF4 for some. Reboot then repair BF4 to be safe.

Ok lets rule out windows not banking it is but just to be sure....

    Test your windows for errors
NOTE>>> Running SFC does not guarantee the crash will not happen, but it will ensure it is not because a windows Dll or file is corrupted in windows.
This works in all windows O/S vista Win7, Win8 and Win8.1 windows system file checker :] Copy and past this to note pad and put it on your desktop. As open programs can give you errors when you run this.

...... sfc /scannow ..... ever hear of it if not your going to love this .... it will inspect all the important windows files as well as the windows DLL files. If windows system file checker finds any issues with the windows files and windows DLL files it will replace them. This little tool as well as the event viewer saved me and fully helped me fix my BF4 issues as well as saved my .... many a format since I found it. This is the best toy they ever put in windows :]

For win7 go to start left click in search type cmd and right click cmd pick run as admin

For win 8.1 right click start bottom left of screen and pick command prompt admin

1 - Open administrator command prompt and close web pages and programs like origin.

2 - Type or copy and paste in sfc /scannow and hit enter, This takes 5 min to 15 min SSD vs HD

3 - This can go one of a few ways ..... no errors ... it fixed some errors ..... could not fix all errors...... does not finish checking and errors out ....... and the last one could not fix errors at all :/

4 -After its done reboot and do it again even if you had no errors the first time or had errors, could not fix ... run sfc /scannow again and when its done a second time reboot. You need to do this a and get no errors 2 x in a row ...

5- So if you ran it 2x and no errors your safe you can stop now for now lol, If you had errors first time but not the second then run sfc /scannow again and when its done reboot. You need to get could not find any errors 2 x to be safe. If it still finds errors try and run it a few more times until it finds no errors 2x AND ALWAYS REBOOT BETWEEN RUNNING sfc /scannow

6 - If you get a message indicating that it can not be repaired and you ran sfc /scannow more then 3x in a row on win vista or 7 mm you need a format or try repair win 7 :/ But after format or repair and all updates are done run sfc /scannow to make sure your windows is stable same deal 2x error free reboot between them.

If your O/S is Win8 or Win 8,1 then you can run this next command / line in administrator command prompt. Sadly this does not work for win vista or 7 :/ It will restore the health of your PC and you dont lose anything and it will also fix errors in the registry :]

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth ------- ONLY works for windows 8 and 8.1

7 - When its done reboot

  • The second part is a bit on the risky side. I did however try the first bit with no luck
  • Sorry for the late reply I did the scan 2 times without an error should I run it once more?

It is ok not a issue on late reply 😕mileyhappy: No it should be ok so the issue is not windows files or dills this is good.

Maybe try what killerwhalsam stated if not done already , I am not a fan of generic drivers/ last resort  but it could work/ help as your headset does not have a driver.

Other then this if not done already just make sure the head set is added to the volume control Options as well as Sounds and configured. If you need it you can find all this in the task bar by the clock , just look for the small white speaker and right mouse click it to pick the two areas I stated.

  • Ok thanks for all the replies I did manage to fix it I deleted origin and reinstalled it and I guess it worked,
thank you both for all the suggestions

Interesting good to know, I put the solution on your post. I have used a reinstall of origin for others when the game will not load but never for sound. Thank you good to know and good job :womanvery-happy:
