Solved! Resolved! Fixed!

How I did it:

1. Limited my FPS to 70 in settings.cfg in the Battlefield 1 installation folder (/ProgramFiles(x86)/Origin Games/Battlefield1)

2. Uninstalled MSI Afterburner

3. Installed EVGA Precision X (Left clocks as factory)

4. Rolled back to August Nvidia driver for good measure 

What was happening?

My CPU (6600k) was bottlenecking my GTX 1070 so much that anything over say 70fps for more than 15-20 minutes would just seize up my bf1.exe.

This is a very niche issue and will only effect a handful of users. It doesn't seem obvious at the beginning because a 6600k will normally sit at 80-100% utilisation during gameplay. However it seems that anyone with a 144hz monitor will experience bottlenecking so bad that your game will eventually seize up after not too long. The game is pushing so hard for that 144fps that you'll end up with BSOD, Kernel Power, or bf1.exe has crashed issues.

    HI There

    I have been struggling with this issue for the past 1,5 months now....stressed my gpu, my ram etc.

    I have a 1070 GTX too...

    I tried to find the settings.cfg but cant find it in the given folder...

    Where do i find the driver from august?

    HI Iam facing the same issues - bf1 keeps on crashing after several minutes showing the same errors in the error log file... My Config: Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 15063) (15063.rs2_release.170317-1834) Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz Memory: 16384MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 12 Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Rolled back the gpu driver stresstested RAM and GPU limited framerate within Battlefield menue to 60 nothing worked for me...☹️

    Hi Martin!

    Sadly an i5 3570K won't cut it for Battlefield 1 I'm sorry. The minimum requirement for CPU is the i5 6600k. Due to the way they've designed the game it's very CPU intensive and even the newer generations of i5's won't completely be up to the task. Also, the pairing of a very powerful 1070 with a ivy bridge 3570k will create bottlenecking issues. 

    But hey, whose to say we can't get it running on your 3570k. Based on the information you've given me I can recommend the following things.

    1. Disabled Directx 12 in Battlefield in-game settings

    2. Overclock your CPU as high as you can (keeping temps in a safe range, only OC with an aftermarket cooler)

    3. Rolling back drivers to known good is just a good measure. (google 'Nvidia older drivers').

    Your main problem here is you have an insanely powerful GPU paired with an older and slower CPU. The easiest route would probably be to upgrade. But please share some more information and I can do my best to help out.

    Hi Chris

    Thanks a million for getting back to me so quickly!

    Well iam not kidding: I was able to play bf1 with my current setup until June 2017 - even on Ultra Settings🙂

    But of course you are right saying that my CPU is really lame.

    Anyhow it helps me lot that you are saying that the CPU is the bottleneck - before i have been so frustrated that trial and error approach(Stresstest with GPU, CPU, RAM etc.) didnt help me to find any possible solution.

    Upgrading my CPU is at least way cheaper than replacing my GPU🙂

    So iam going to follow your advices first in order to get a short-term solution. And ill go and upgrade my CPU for a mid/longterm solution.

    What additional info could i share? You think we might have another solution?

    I had the same problem. I stress test the * out of everything and nothing would crash. When i played bf1 is would stop in around 2-5 min. 

    So i got pissed and decided to stress the * out of my pc so that what ever is giveing me * could just break.  So i installed afterburner and overclocked my rx470. After a crash my pc restarted did a update"windiws update" and when it turned on i contuned until i had a stable overclock. And now its fixed. 

    So it could be fixed by updateing your pc or just overclock your graphics card. Sorry for my eng. Its not my firat languages.
