Siege of Antwerp (1914) On the night of 25/26 August, the city was bombed by a German Zeppelin airship.
Ramskapelle (Battle of the Yser) The Germans attacked again on the Yser front on 30 October, overran the Belgian second line and reached Ramskapelle and Pervijze. Belgian and French counter-attacks recovered Ramskapelle and the final attack, planned for the next day was called off when the Germans realised that the land behind them was flooding. The Germans withdrew in the night of 30/31 October.

The port and the town were divided from the rest of the peninsula by steep hills. The main line of defence lay along three hills, Mount Moltke, Mount Bismarck, and Mount Iltis, from the Kaiserstuhl to Litsuner Heights. Guarding the left wing was Fort Moltke, on the hill of the same name, with two 9.4 in. (240 mm) guns. The heaviest firepower was concentrated in the four 11 in. (280 mm) howitzers of Fort Bismarck.

Siege of Fort Bismarck (青島要塞爆撃命令, Chintao yôsai bakugeki meirei) is a 1963 Japanese war film directed by Kengo Furusawa and special effects work by Eiji Tsuburaya. The film is set in World War I, which is rare for a Japanese movie. Based on a real Siege of Tsingtao, it depicts a team of aviators (who are pilots for the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service) are on a dangerous mission to destroy all German defense fortresses before the Allies could land their forces to occupied the port city. In overseas country like the United States and Europe, it was released under the title, "Siege of Fort Bismarck". In order to shoot the film, in addition to the elaborate two aircraft miniatures like the Farman MF.11 and the Etrich Taube with a wingspan of 1 meter or more, a full-scale model for shooting the main story with a propeller rotating was produced. In both cases, the filming was done in addition to the set, and on Mt. Fuji, it was hung from a helicopter. The full-scale model of the Farman MF.11 was assembled by a craftsman specializing in gliders by borrowing the actual machine in the disassembled state saved by the Japan Aeronautic Association and creating a restoration drawing. The Japanese seaplane carrier Wakamiya was also photographed using a cargo ship.

In 1913, Karl von Müller took command of the ship. At the outbreak of World War I, Emden captured a Russian steamer and converted her into the commerce raider Cormoran. Emden rejoined the East Asia Squadron, then was detached for independent raiding in the Indian Ocean. The cruiser spent nearly two months operating in the region, and captured nearly two dozen ships. On 28 October 1914, Emden launched a surprise attack on Penang; in the resulting Battle of Penang, she sank the Russian cruiser Zhemchug and the French destroyer Mousquet. Müller then took Emden to raid the Cocos Islands, where he landed a contingent of sailors to destroy British facilities. There, Emden was attacked by the Australian cruiser HMAS Sydney on 9 November 1914. The more powerful Australian ship quickly inflicted serious damage and forced Müller to run his ship aground to avoid sinking. Out of a crew of 376, 133 were killed in the battle. Most of the survivors were taken prisoner; the landing party, led by Hellmuth von Mücke, commandeered an old schooner and eventually returned to Germany. The DLC Forward to Glory takes you to a theater of war every bit as brutal as the West. Make a last stand alongside the Serbian army in Belgrade, Fight alongside or against the Bulgarians in the bloody Battle of Doiran, and join the Greek Army as they break neutrality to aid the Allied war effort.
