only being spotted for you defeats most of the purpose of spotting enemies.  You spot to communicate to 31 other strangers that there is an enemy over yonder.

The ping system never took the place of this because it was only for your 3 squad members.  Ping system would get too spammy with 31 players and worse with 63 teammates.

I think they could have improved the 3d spotting so one couldn't blindly spam it.  Maybe they could have fixed the show thru smoke issue as well although I imagine that's not easy otherwise they would have fixed it already.

I'd personally like the ping system to return but red pings get shown for the whole team and like BF5, don't follow the enemy everywhere they go.

The spotting in BF1 was a bit much. I would just run around constantly clicking Q.

I didn't think I would like the directional spotting in BFV, but it grew on me. Maybe a combination of the 2 limited to squad mates only with a distance limit and time limit.

  • What the difference between ping and 3d spotting?

Spotting enemies is not telling squadmates there is one at 100,200 or 1000m it is also telling teammates there are 5 around a corner.

Having a spot function in game does not  disadvantage or advantage a player as all have the same issue,  unlike if not having spot gives a massive advantage to those on comms.  Which I am sure all 64 players are going to be comms discipline on a open channel.

Let's not forget we now have AI bots. How do you think they work.
