Many mindboggling things that all have gone so terribly wrong with this BF2042 game...

And one of them are as you highlight, the way that EA sets a game release date 3 years out and then simply just insists on sticking to that, no matter if the game is ready or not for it.

Don't think its any secret that the BF2042 game was initially designed to have become a pure Battle Royal style of game for EA/DICE.  The large maps are needed for that, which then keeps shrinking as the players keeps taking out their remaining enemies.

As all players are one man armies, its all against everybody else.  Hence also the reason why no need for scoreboards with k/d stats or points ranking up across two teams.  Likewise no need for squad management features, no need for VOIP, no need for a server browser, no need for the server to carry over all the players from one round to the next, no need for soldier classes and also why each specialist essentially has access to all the generic weapons and all the gadgets as you personally wish for your hero shooter in that BR game.  This was intended to be the main contents and substance of the BF2042 game.

Hazard Zone was then thought to be that brilliant BF twist to the BR genre, namely to have a squad based BR game mode also.

And the Portal was clipped on last minute, just to show some amazing love to the old and obviously outdated players that were lost without legacy BF game aspects.

And the rest is history...

And cause for the tragic current state of this last triple A game which was supposed to be the latest and greatest add to the BF Franchise.
