Re: Make it possible to pick the gender of your specialist

It won't happened because EA/DICE are “woke” companies. Do you remember BFV? WW2.  For over a year we had be female in tanks and in planes.. I still can’t understand some their decisions.

@CascadiaSRL LOL at your answer. Why you can't understand that some players don't want to play as a female? What is wrong with you? We should have a choice.

@xmohawkxxxTo answer your question, I can completely understand that some players don't want to play as a female. What I don't understand is the WHY. I say this because several things are happening while I play the game. First, Im a medic, second is there someone that needs to be healed, and third I'm not thinking about what gender my character avatar is. Seriously, do you run around on the battlefield playing the game and the only thing that is going through your mind is that other players are thinking or wondering if you are really a male or a female in real life? Are you and other players that insecure that you would petition EA and Dice to actually address and resolve your inner conflict? You ask me what is wrong with me? Try asking yourself the same question.

I don't know nor do I care if you are male or female in real life and the same holds true in the game. The same goes for the ethnic background of the player character nor the person behind the screen playing the game. There is also the real life fact that some of the best soldiers in the world are female and I respect them for their service. I wonder how many of them run around in battle wishing they were men.

You say that we (or you) should have choices and I agree but just don't assume that saying that in a post in a thread means that you have to be agreed with. WOKE works in many different ways.
I have to wonder what your stand is since your post only shows support for some players and not where you stand personally. Do you get warped out of shape playing a female character because you are a male?

The only argument I can agree with is this one.

I want to have the range of choices I had in BFV.

And sometimes its simply that people don't want to play the guy that is an arrogant windbag.

Some people play Tomb Raider, some play Uncharted, and some play both, their reasons are theirs to have.

Having the options doesn't classify someone as un-woke or woke. Wokeness is a construct of the un-woke.

its seems as though not all the pros in this place are complete morons, this guy actually understands that ppl want different things

PS: there were like 3 or 4 pros that just said nonsense, i was beggining to lose hope, atleast i know there is atleast one smart one

@Blaiisze I don't think not caring about gender identity sounds like third graders, in fact, only wanting to be a boy because girls have cooties or whatever sounds much more like a third grader attitude to me.

Either way, I agree that there's nothing wrong with having choices, but refusing to play as a specialist/class because of their gender/sex/race/identity I find to be incredibly funny, especially when it is a first-person shooter.
  • @Blaiisze You wrote several times the same thing one of which I will quote here....

none of you read what i wrote

i said that u might be fine with playing the opposite gender,.... but im not fine with it

WRAP YOURS HEADS AROUND THAT IDEA, and stop writing the same stuff, not everyone is the same

I have mentioned several times that I understand that you just dont want to play a female character, I get it but....

I have also mentioned, no asked, WHY dont you want to play a female character. You have called some pros in here morons. Fair enough because we all understand that we have that freedom of speech thing going on. Yet with all your comments you have yet to really explain why you fundamentally hate playing as a female character. I am not trying to be a * about this but to be honest I am not a fan of someone who wants the freedom of choice but is unwilling to truly explain why they feel they need that change to happen. Since I dont think that I will have my question answered after 4 pages I will just leave this now and continue on with threads that are way more pressing. Cheers

This subject is very deep. I am going to start with saying this: I am a male and it does bother me a little bit when I play as a female character. If I look deep into my soul, the answer to the WHY? is : The character, I feel is a representation of me. And I am not a female. I have these feelings. Don’t ask why just accept it. On another hand we could also ask why DO you play as a female character when you are a male? I’m going to give examples from real life but people might not like it and respect for the exception. Some male players like to look at female characters because they sexually fantasize about them. Which is OK. Other male players like to feel dominance over females, they like to be in control of them. Some male players fantasize about dressing in women’s cloths. Like it or not, this is the truth and I know people who are like this in real life.
It’s OK with me. And of course there are a lot of players who just don’t give a crap. As to why the OP does not say why he doesn’t like to play as female character is his own business. I’m sure we all have reasons for everything we like or don’t like. We just have to accept it. We don’t have to understand it or change it. There are people who like rap or hip-hop music or like to customize their characters which I don’t understand or desire but hey we are all different. And just to close my doctor Phil monologue: I would play Sundance more often too if it would have a male version. Cheers.

@JOGAGATYA I can appreciate your reasoning.

I would love the specialists to be able to use any of the other gadgets. I keep thinking how funny it would be to see Dozer with a wingsuit or Falck with the shield or something.

That’s a great idea too! I understand this is a lot of work and probably will never happen. Anyway I enjoy the game a lot on PS4. now with voice communication I love to play the game with random‘s and it is working great on the PlayStation and servers are always full. ✌️
  • @JOGAGATYA Thank you for a very good post. To be clear I was not trying to profile anyone as it was just to get a reasonable explanation as to why there was a personal hesitation or adversion to playing one gender vs another in a computer game. I do completely agree that it is the OP's right to keep his business to himself. I respect that always and apologize if it seems otherwise.
I play a female character even though I am a male. The reason is that I am not identifying with the gender at all and simply playing a class that not matter what the game I play medic all the time normally. Neither deeper nor shallower than that. It is the class not the gender. In this case if the medic was male then I would still play that class again without thought to the gender.
Again, I appreciate your candor and your nicely worded post.
  • when did i say that they have cooties, it seems like you really dove deep because you found stuff in my post that wasnt there, congrats

    @CascadiaSRL

i dont want to play female characters simply because im not female. im a guy so i want to play male characters

if i was a girl then i would be fine with playing female characters, but since i was born as a guy, it litterally makes me feel so uncomfortable playing as a female

im not the emitional character that you see in movies, but playing as a girl fazed me, i had a litteral headache afterwards, it only lasted a couple seconds, but if even my subconscious hates it so much, that just shows me that playing as a female, is disturbing for me a male

it took me a couple of minutes to even decide to play as sundance, i watched utubers play her, and wanted to use her 3 types of grenades, that come back at a nice time.  but when i got into the game i was shocked that she was a female character, i didnt notice it when watching utubers play her, but after playing her once, i felt terrible and never played a female character again

can someone tell me how to close a post

i got banned for speaking the truth, but when somone litterally swore at me, the moderators turned a blind eye, they only side with those that make them do less work

and u can hold off on making every specialist have 2 gender optoins, cause im not playing this game ever again, and since it seems as though im the only person with this problem, u can just ignore every post ive ever made ( like u always have)

  • @Blaiisze Thank you for your candor and your explanation. I and I hope others now have a better understanding about this concern. More importantly I hope that this has been noticed by EA and Dice. I have no idea if they will do anything to address these concerns in the future but it is something that they should at least acknowledge and considering implementing. Though I sincerely doubt that it can or will be changed for BF2042 but moving ahead it should be important enough to them to make the game a welcome environment for all players. Really what it comes down to, in my opinion, is to create both gender models and the voice acting. The actual bones that are used to animate the characters will work for both genders, it is just the character models that would need to be developed. The coding to allow the selection is just coding and at the end of the day the additional coding is not actually rocket science.
I do respect your desires for choice, your desire for the changes and for raising these concerns in the first place. I never intended to cause you grief and if I did then please accept my apologies.
