Re: Battlefield 7

I hope they just throw in the towel early and let the franchise die.  If the last few BF titles has proved anything, it's that the franchise is only getting worse.  Everytime they say they are going to "learn from previous titles", "take Battlefield back to it's roots", and "listen to it's community".  All I've seen in 2042 is whatever the exact opposite of those things is.  EA/DICE have pretty much lied to and ignored it's loyal playerbase by making changes no one has asked for, got the basics totally wrong, and ignored everyone's calls to fix the majority of issues.  I have absolutely no confidence they can reverse the trend downwards, and I'm convinced the next title will be even worse.

I liked the last 3 titles. What is a good BF game for you? I tried BF4 recently and it was not that good. It's just nostalgia. BFV was better for sure. Even BF2042 is better than BF4. Lot of people still play BFV for example on the PlayStation. Almost nobody plays BF4 and it is up and available.

I didn't play BFV, I refuse to play any game without an anti-cheat at launch. Like the next Battlefield if it comes with EAAnti-cheat since it does not work. So missed any music from BF1 and BFV.

EA just keeps digging the hole deeper and deeper imho.

Appreciate the heads up but if it doesn't have an effective anti-cheat I want nothing to do with it. It is my line in the sand so to speak.

@sk1lld Have BF1 on the EA app, it's very playable. When it's on sale on Steam, get it, 100% worth it.

The music in Battlefield 1 was made by composers Johan Söderqvist and Patrik Andrén.

Do yourself a favor and find it on Youtube if you’ve never heard it.

    It’s fantastic.

BF1 is amazing. Worth getting on steam!

I occasionally play BFV with some friends and it's so damn good, even though it's a last gen game.  The atmosphere, the music, the attention to detail, the animations, the audio, just everything is soooo good.  It's a real shame this game was cut short so that the devs could focus on 2042 (what the hell happened there!)

I loaded up BF1 recently too and WOW, again, the music, the atmosphere, the maps, the action, it all felt tense in a way that 2042 just doesn't.  I like 2042 and play it regularly, but these two previous titles are head and shoulders better in nearly every way.

I feel that Battlefield 1 was the last BF game that got fully supported throughout its lifespan.  Operations (breakthrough) but across 2 or 3 maps, epic games!! The airships, dreadnoughts, massive tanks, and the destruction.  My God the destruction in BF1 is incredible, pretty much everything can be blow to pieces.

For me, 2042 is a decent first person shooter, but it's not representative of a Battlefield game by any means.

As for the next game, I don't know if the current DICE team really understand what made the franchise so great.  Instead of focussing on making a top notch BF game, they seem to distracted by what other FPS games are doing.  BF shouldn't be following the crowd.  The suits and accountants at EA need to be removed from the equation and just let DICE do their thing.

Great post. Yeah BF1 and BFV for the best atmosphere and joy for sure. They had the best character animations too. It is a choppy mess in the new game. Characters stationary while turning, halfway standing on stairs. They are twitching like a sparrow. No fluidity. (Is that a word?) new game is too fast, TTK is too low. All this added to a lesser experience in the new game for me, although i like many things in BF2042 and play it regularly.

If i hop on BFV i get a sense of rush. All the sounds and the build up to come across an enemy player. Everything is slower but somehow makes my heart race it is so intense. A round in BFV where my K/D is 7-4 is waaaay more intense than a round of BF2042 where i end up doing 24-5
