I was able to get this to work, just make sure you close EVERYTHING in task manager.
Can you specify what you mean by everything? Like, all open application processes? Because there are a number of HP and Microsoft background tasks that I couldn't uninstall when I got it and they never let me close them. Sorry if I'm being dence, but I'm not great with software problems at the best of times.:

The question is... why would we have to go straight back to Origin if we were given a new application made by EA themselves instead of a third party bs app? Is it their service plan? I'm pretty sure cloud is a better way of distributing information and files instead of raunchy handling of encrypted file transfers.... Why didn't they set it up before launching EA app? What exactly is this *?
Origin isn't used for EA games anymore so why should I care about this and why does this exist?

This worked to "solve" the problem for me. Actually a workaround. So the overal problem is not solved.
Origin installed Sims4 and all of the Packs and Kits I own.
Remember that the EA pop-up over the Origin App can't be removed while it does this.
After Orin installed everything, I still had to go in and manually install (again) every pack and kit that were stuck before in the EA App. @Admiral8QHow do I open Origin? I'm having the same issue but I can't manage to do it.
- @Admiral8Q Wait, I'VE SOLVED IT (maybe): I just deleted the "cachecreated" file in the Installation File folder and it unjammed!!

You will need to go to:
https://origin.onl/download/
Make sure EA App and it's background stuff is completely closed first. If uncertain, go to "Task Manager" (Ctr-Alt-Del). On the advanced view look for anything that says EA and End Task.
After it's installed, then open Origin. Either through an icon on your desktop or start-bar or start menu. Or search for "Origin" in file manager then open it that way.
It should install Sims 4 and all packs/kits.
Remember the pop-up to install the EA app and remove Origin will be there right away and you can't close it. So ignore it while Origin does all the installing automatically.
When it's done, like I said before, close Origin, then open the EA App. EA App will install everything again, so let it do that until it's done. The ones that were stuck should actually install this time. Basically you have to do it twice. Once in Origin and once in the EA App.
Make sure Origin wont start automatically, or uninstall it. Otherwise the EA App most certainly will conflict with it.
EDIT: Oh you may have to manually tell the EA App to install each Sims 4 pack and kit. It's fickle.

@56007f38991bc753 Let us know if this continues to work for you or if it stops and which file in the installer you deleted. We can always test that out with others! 👍 - @EA_ShepardAfter not getting anywhere, I decided to restart from the ground and I removed completely all the game and EA App's file, then checked every new file that would be created when installing the game.
So after getting stuck again with the game's installation I started looking for what files were created and, by pure chance, in the game's "Installation Files" folder (which initially was invisible, I found it by typing "sims" in File Explorer's research bar) there was this file called "cachecreated" (or "createdcache", either way the name is this) among the three files that were in the folder (the other two, I don't remember the name - another file had the word "created" as well in it though) and, remembering that in the chat that said the problem seemed to be cache related, since deleting the App's cache didn't work either manually and via "App Recovery", I tried removing this cache file and the installation surprisingly resumed. - EA_Shepard3 years ago

A good deep dive. I am going to try to find this myself and get something up for that but the question I have now is, does deleting the same folder on another game download work as well? Have you tested it on any other content?
- @EA_Shepard As of today, The Sims 4 is the only EA game I own on my PC so couldn't try on other contents.
Also, could you explain better what do you mean by "does deleting the same folder on another game download"?
P.S. Sorry if I answer slowly: I'm not usually at the PC. - @EA_Shepard Checked back a few weeks later and still no fix on the EA app. How long until I can play the game I bought?

@56007f38991bc753 If you try to download another game, and delete the same folder for the new game you download have the same outcome? Repeat the same steps for a different game. - @EA_Shepard Still waiting on a update for this? How long will EA hold onto my money before I can play the game I purchased is the better question?

@theresbryanlaird I am afraid that I do not have a specific timeframe for this because every situation is different. Not all players run into the same reason why it is happening and a lot of different steps work for other players.
What it does seem like though is it comes down to a few issues relating to the following
Permissions based - so with Admin, folder, Windows, Antivirus, etc.Network - VPN, Proxy settings - TCP/IP settings, DNS Host File, etc
This is why we ask players to go through all of the steps we ask for, and to please try to list what you have done because if that does not happen, then we get a lot of - well I did that and it didn't work. Then we have to wait for the player to list everything they personally did try. This does make it tougher for everyone involved.
- @EA_Shepard I dont want to wait anymore for this to be resolved, how do I go about getting a refund?
Good luck with that, I would also like one for all my 18 games which I haven't been able to play since the force switch to the ea app(from origin) or about 4 months.

@theresbryanlaird I understand that. All info on refunds can be found Here.
I open the Fifa 22 launcher ,it goes to the EA App and says "you don't have access, this title have been downloaded to your device by another user who owns the game.log in to different account or restart app " I don't have another account.
Problem 2# I have the Fifa 22 game files in my pc but the game library somehow don't detect it and the EA app game library shows the download option rather than Play, and when I try to download Fifa 22 it always gets stuck on preparing to download. I tried clearing cache ,open as admin, tried reinstalling EA app etc again and again ,still it gets stuck on preparing
any idea to solve this???
Due to how long I have been waiting refunds are no longer valid. so now im out my money for the game its in EA's pockets and I cant play it due to the app not working. Months since this has been raised its still not updating or downloading. its pure theft at this point .

I cant install origin. Please help me!
So my daughter had this same / similar problem. I'm going to tell you the solution we found, but first let me say the fact that no one from EA or elsewhere posted this as a solution as it almost appears as if it should be a known issue is pathetic, but typical and expected from EA.
Anyways here it is. We had the problem on her computer with a Sims 4 update just being stuck on "Preparing" forever. As in hours. No progress no error, it was just stuck there. We tried reboots, we tried clearing cache, etc... nothing worked.
FInally I poked around in the app settings and found a check box / slider bar to enable automatic downloads and downloads in background. Immediately after enabling both it went from preparing to downloading and the update installed successfully.
Why would you need this on? Doesn't make sense. Why would manually selecting to update with these settings off cause it to fail? No idea, and it doesn't make sense. But crappy software works in crappy ways.
I don't know if this will work for others, but it worked for us despite making no sense and after hours of frustration and annoyance.
@916b440868cdef5eThank you so much!!! Your solution worked for me!!! I did not want to clear caches and chance messing up Other games (sims 2). Thank you thank you thank you! I haven't played sims 4 in a long time but am tempted by their current sales. Again a million thanks for fixing it when official help doesn't. As soon as I enabled automatic downloads and downloads in backround a PROGRESS BAR showed up and it's now updating sims 4.
