Re: EA App Download Error - There's a Problem With Your Download

@19FuLGRiM91 Bumping this. This worked for me. The issue is definitely the folder permissions relating to the folder the game is stored in. I chose to create a folder for my games called EA Games in my Program Files directory. Both it and the app created game directory (in my case Titanfall2) had given the CREATED OWNER, and all other users that were not SYSTEM, virtually no permissions. Opening up the permission solved the issue for me, after trying the repair strategy and others recommended in this thread and them not working.

    @Knuffle98 Hey can you do me a solid and list the steps you took for these permissions? I would like to send that over to the team and for other players just in case they have the same issue.

    @EA_Shepard

    (Likely noone will ever see this since the EA moderators have long since taken to blanket deleting every single post I ever make...)

    But I tried absolutely every fix in this thread, renaming a text file to the EXE... Moving the install directory to another drive... assigning the permissions on the install folder to Everyone/Full Control...

    I can't download anything any more. Shows up as Preparing 14%, Flashes that a few times like it's re-trying before just ending with There was a problem... Download error.

    @Psychotps I see them. It is an issue that has not yet been given an update. There are a lot of factors in this one. The app itself is not the issue, it is something preventing the games from downloading/launching. Every player has had a different step work for those who were able to get it working. Every PC is different. Thousands of programs get installed and uninstalled. Alongside permissions, security software, modems, etc. There are a lot of factors that contribute to why something won't happen.

    @EA_Shepard

    Just FYI... I tried every game in my library.

    For some weird reason was ONLY able to download the old ME2 with all the DLC

    However I can't download ME1, ME3, Any of the DLC, ME Legendary, None of the Dragon-ages...

    Since I was able to download that ONE game, that means there's nothing wrong with my setup or connection. The problem MUST be on EA's end if I'm able to download anything at all.

    Once the ME2 started to download, I even immediately cancelled it and started the old ME1....  I download ME2 works, ME1 failed, ME3 failed, ME2 works.

    It's on EA's end.

  • I briefly thought they fixed the issue because some of my TS3 expacks downloaded quickly and without issue, but then it got down to the last few and nope. Still preparing downloading indefinately.

    @Psychotps I understand this is frustrating, but we aren't here to debate whose end this issue faults to. When you installed the one that worked, was this to an HDD or SDD? Do you have more than one drive installed, and do they, if you have both, have more than enough space on that drive?

  • @Psychotps did you take ownership of the Folder(EA Games)? Giving yourself Fullcontrol permissions is not the same as owning the folder. To take ownership of the Folder you have to open the advanced security tab but be careful with those settings as there is a reason for why certain things are setup the way they are. You should only take Ownership of the EA Games folder and give yourself fullcontrol permissions for the folder and all subfolder and files

    @EA_ShepardI only have two drives, both are SSD and both have over 900 Gigs free. And I've tried them both.

  • I've been having the same issues and I've tried all the suggestions to no avail. It seems to a long standing issue so I definitely would say its an EA games issue. I can't download my sims 3 games or CC. That is a lot of money to hold ransom I'd say.

    This is 100% a issue EA's side the app doesn't work as intended in the slightest I've decided I'm stopping my EA Play Pro subscription until its sorted out as what is the point in paying for something if I can't even play the games I've paid for? This is ridiculous its been going on for months give us Origin Back as at least that worked as intended or give us the option I did not just spend £5000 on a pc to not be able to play the games I own.

    I had the same issue last night trying to re-install The Sims 4, thankfully after waiting a while the issue was resolved and re-downloaded correctly.

    I had this issue for 2 days with Sims 3. I can download the base game but all my add-ons have the "Something went wrong. Try again later." message.

    The issues are definitely on EA's end, this isn't even a debate, just a logical conclusion when so many people with different setups are having this issue.

    We can all download games just fine on every other platform on our PC's BUT yours. It's not a debate, correct. It's simply a fact.

    This has been an issue for a loooong time now, any update on a potential fix?

  • Well, i'm having the same issue for EA Sports WRC, tried every single method to fix it, i'm thinking about voodoo right now.

    So i think the only thing to do is to wait, because it seems that EA don't really give a f**** about this.
