Re: TS3 ambition expansion not working
@naszli You explained the problem perfectly. The thing is, I don't know whether it's possible to use the Ambitions digital download with your disc content. Origin is supposed to manage a mix of disc and digital installs fine, but it often doesn't. You're not the first person to have this issue.
What you could do, if you feel like experimenting, is clean your computer's registry of Sims 3-related entries (Piriform's CCleaner is free and works well), install the base game only, then install Ambitions and see what Origin does. If it works, you could then install Late Night and see how it goes. But you might end up in the same place where you started. We've never really been able to figure out a pattern of who gets this kind of setup to work and who doesn't.
If you're ever looking to expand your list of packs, just wait for a Steam sale. I don't know where you live, but in the U.S., each pack is $5 during the sales. You'd need to buy the base game again (also $5), but you'd still come out ahead. And you can usually find bundles like the base game, Generations, Pets, and Seasons for $7.50 total. Steam offers CD keys that can be registered in Origin, so you'd have a valid base game code to go with Ambitions. Or you could just use a Steam install; the downside of that is that you couldn't use your Late Night disc or your Ambitions Origin download, but it might be worth not having to deal with Origin.
