Re: Sims 3 keeps crashing

@filleatomique   First thing I notice is low free space on the system device. Try freeing up space on this device. Random crashes can also be an overheating computer. Are you using the laptop on a hard surface? Over time dust accumulates on the cooling fan and does cool as good as when the laptop was new.

  • @roberta591 Thank you so much for getting back to me!

I always use my laptop on hard surfaces. It doesn't feel hot. Space-wise: I have 44,1 GB left out of 237 GB. Is that not enough?

  • @roberta591 No it keeps crashing as frequently, but I've noticed that I keep crashing in the building mode. I've used the crash log analyzer, but really not sure what is causing it. I've added a Sims 3 exception to DEP but that isn't helping either

@filleatomique  A program ProductUpdater.exe is NOT a Windows core file. It seems to be generating errors. Do you have a utility program that checks for possible updates? It may have been installed with FreemakeVideoDownloader. As it is generating errors I would recommend removal.

  • @roberta591 I've deleted Freemake and completely reinstalled Sims but it still crashes. How can I check whether other programs are annoying my Sims game? (thank you!!)

That UpdateTool.exe is still showing up. Is it something from Origin? Could it be my Intel updater thing?

@filleatomique it appears UpdateTool.exe is part of Origin which is the DRM for this game. ProductUpdater.exe is not the same program and ProductUpdater.exe was causing errors.
