Re: NERFING assists

@Jafmasterflash7 I have to completely agree with what you’re saying here. A full Assist being reward, only like 2 or 3 tenths of people without assists. It really needs sorting.

Will never happen in a mainstream F1 licensed SimCade. As it relies on sales.  Vast majority of people who buy the game play for fun.   A few hours here and there using a controller.  They don’t have the time to put the effort into Gitting Gud.  and especially don’t want to pay hundreds out buying  a sim setup, which Is needed to Git Gud enough to be comfortable enough to race online without assists.

If you want to race others who take the time and spend the money to Git Gud there are plenty off hardcore sims to choose from.

This game is designed to be a SimCade that is accessible to kids and beginners and casual F1 fans

The guys that are really good at this game don’t complain about players using assists

    @ScarDuck14 Am I missing something?

The OP is in a league that allows assist and he wants EA/CM to nerf assist cause his league won't.....am I reading this right?🤔

Assists are an important part of the game to make it accessible but I don't think that rules out the sort of balancing the OP is asking for.

  • I take on board everything that you said & whilst I agree to certain aspects of what you said I disagree on others…

on TT I average around 1500 itw Xbox that’s my limit try as I might i can’t get faster… I’ve played the F1 games since 2016 yet someone who’s picked the game up since 22 can go over a second faster in TT on full assists

there’s no skill or “getting gud” involved it’s just ham hands on buttons & surely it should be at least a level playing field for all

there’s no incentives for them to learn or get gud where as if assists were not so OP they would quickly realise that coming off assists would make them faster & better drivers meaning online wouldn’t be FUBAR as assist users can just hit you & drive by with no repercussions where as an non assist user 10/10 times will spin & how is that fair!?

  • No I don’t think you are reading this right, I mentioned my league because that’s where I race most… but, it’s online & TT’s in general

A player using zero assists will get done out of corners everywhere everytime to a person that is on full assists

theirs no incentive at all for them to learn

Then theirs the contact model… a full assists user can go around the outside of most corners & if they contact a zero assist user the zero assist user always comes of worst

I think people without assist should go faster if they are good that was my understanding but I would be courious to know how fast people with full assist can do the lap

overall I think people with assist has it easier on the long run as they probably can make less mistakes unless you are a real pro and spent a lot of time on the simulator

i know without assist people can do Bahrain in 1:30-1:29 and I though people with full assist had trouble going below 1:31-1:30 so more or less 1 second faster but I would be interested to have more data

  • @pekish79 I can answer your question because I have most F1 22 stuff logged in F1Laps. In most tracks in TT, I'm around +/- 1 second from real F1 track records. There are exceptions where I'm a lot faster and a lot slower than the current track record but we'll ignore it for now and assume the "middle" ground is ok for analysis' sake.

As far as TT is concerned if I recall correctly this usually leaves me somewhere between 45% and 55% of the population. Since you mentioned Bahrain, it follows what I described above. My times are very consistent, between 1:30.830 and 1:30.928. I find similar consistency and times (compared to real F1 records) in Jeddah, Barcelona, Baku, Canada, France, Singapore, COTA, Mexico, and Brazil. For what it's worth all times in TT in F1 22 were set with full TC, ABS, racing line, and auto transmission.

Obviously, I don't represent the whole "assists" population. On the one hand, although I play casually I'm kinda invested in racing games but on the other hand, I assume I'm rather slow compared with other more invested players and likely faster than other casuals.

Does this help or shed any light?

That is what I expected I think honestly I don’t see much problem with the assist as they are they should push people with no assist to try to improve as they know they can be faster if they get real good and overall they allow more people to be competitive (that should be a good thing)

it seems a win-win situation overall as long as you don’t take losing personally and get upset. It is a game chill and try your best to get better assist won’t ruin your fun.

If really * you off you could ask for competition specific for no assist but shouldn’t nerf it overall as it would make a lot less fun for a lot of people feel very selfish.

  • This forum is jokes. I've got mods stating I'm elitist and I've got nobody's stating i should just practice and get faster.

Brilliant for banter, less so for genuine adult discussions regarding a quite obvious lack of balance in the game which an average avid player has noticed and has been repeated by several others, but those persons wish to not get into a debate over it due to the know it alls and blatant defence tactics that will to accept there might be a lack of balance in the game physics.

I'm not asking for a rewrite, this game is truly the most enjoyable in the series for a long time, which I'm sure most will agree with. Excellent job guys, the devs have listened to the players to make these significant changes over the 22 game.

I just know from racing in the community, what is being said. The OP of this thread mentioned it, got several agreements and I chose to continue the conversation to see if it was possible to be heard.

Test it guys, don't take my word for it, put it to the test, side by side no TC against full TC and see which is stronger.

No elitist behind the wheel of no TC, just a regular fan of the game.

    TC is OP...

Make your mind up. Is this game a simcade for fun?

    Yes?

Well the TC is OP and is taking fun away from people who wish to enjoy pushing themselves to switch assists off, but have little chance of ever competing against TC unless they get to a, for arguments sake, top 5% in the world level.

Or is the game for elitists?

@catchygaaaa If someone didn't treat you with the respect you deserve, could you not call them out on their out of line attitude and deal with it with maturity instead of calling the whole community a joke?

I can only speak for myself, and on this specifically will do so for the third time: nothing I said precludes the possibility of a rebalancing of the assists being a good thing. Could very well be the case if ABS and TC aren't holding players down as they should. I'm no parameter for that as I play with no assists and prefer to get my multiplayer fix from iRacing and ACC instead of F1.

That said, it's a fact that assists hurt lap times having proper inputs as a frame of reference. Besides Jarno's video I linked on my first post, PJ Tierney's would often demonstrate how ABS lengthens braking distances by a good margin - staying with ABS because that used to be arguably the most controversial of the bunch, with many (myself included) saying it could probably have been nerfed a few iterations ago.
TC, though... F1 22 was a rough spot, but whereas ABS was debatable, I have never seen someone serious enough putting TC to the test and not finding it adding tenths to their laptimes.

On a side note, no mods posted on this thread. Champions like myself are regular users with a silly badge, just that.

@catchygaaaa Nobody's.....really? Then say your not elitist?

You are right about one thing.....this IS a joke.
  • @mariohomoh Sorry, misunderstanding of words, not calling the forum a joke. Stating it was funny.. This is the internet, there's no need to call out individuals and start at direct conflict and descending into a 1on1 argument. It's all here to see, just read the thread and you'll see for yourself.
As I said, I'm just trying to have an open honest discussion and get true honest feedback.
  • @BadMayh3m Lol, an elitist who's so rapid, he's asking for a nerf of TC in the most cause I'm getting dropped in traction zones. Lol, yep, I see exactly where you're coming from.
