I have been playing Perfect Golf since 2015 and consider it the best all round golf game that I have played. As a 10+ old game the graphics are not as good as EA Sports but it has aged well. The mouse control , RTSM, real time swing mouse is the best control method I have played in any golf game, past or present. There is absolutely zero feedback after a shot yet the feel is so good that you think you know what went wrong with the swing, in other words like real golf.
Trackman bought PG and the two developers were hired by Trackman to create courses for their simulator For those of us who are familiar with Perfect Golf you can immediately see the similarities of the Trackman courses.
Some of the features in PG that EA does not have are:
1. You can view a replay by choosing from 9 different camera angles. I sometimes view a shot from multiple camera angles. You can also save them using 3rd party software. I have saved shots from as far back as 2015!
2. BLI or break line indicator is a real innovation. Using it means you don't need a green grid.
3. You can move your ball position on the tee box.
4. There is a chance that a ball landing in a bunker can be plugged.
5. A course architect where you can create or export your own objects. I have seen animated people working on paths adjacent to a hole or golfers on practice greens putting.
6. The game is true 3D so you can move the location of your golfer to any spot on the course. On one user created course I walked in to a small church to have a look inside.
7. There is a practice mode so you can "drop" a ball anywhere you want on the course to practice everything from pitching, chipping, putting, bunker shots etc.
8. Because there is no feedback for RTSM there is a driving range where you can hit balls and there is feedback after every shot. Replicates taking a Trackman out on the range.
It is a real shame that the development of PG stopped after Trackman bought it because the goal of the two developers was to create the most realistic golf game possible.
