Interesting live players charts

Hey guys,

i felt that barely anybody is playing F1 24, its not that easy to find good lobbies, most leagues havent even started due to the issues of the game and F1 World feels dead as well.

So i checked the Steam Charts (only PC) and compared them to previous F1 at the same stage of their respective cycles.

what i saw stunned me. F1 24 peaked on 8.000 players. current 24h peaks barely make it over 4.000. its clearly visible that almost day by day the players drop even further. While last week and before the game comfortably peaked at 4.500 players during the day its now barely over 3.000...

and if you compare that to F1 23 its almost frightning. F1 23 peaked at 15.000 players. In the first 5 weeks after the release the 24h peaks all had over 8.000-10.000 players. Interestingly as well is that F1 23 still peaks at 2.500 EVERY DAY!

If we go back even further to F1 22 and F1 2021 the numbers keep increasing (covid as well). F1 22 had a 24h peak average in the first 5 weeks of around 15.000 players and more. So its fair to say F1 lost 2/3 of its playerbase in less than 2 years.

Here is the link to the steam charts. Its only PC but the numbers dont lie and its a really good indicator for games and their popularity. Also the share of F1 sales on PC has not changed in the last years.

After looking at this I think some heads are about to roll at EA or CM. I dont know but from EAs position their strange investment has not payed out one bit as of yet. And I also believe that this might actually be the nail in the coffin for competitive racing in F1 games.

GG EA.

  • @1_Elipsis_1 My recent history F120 700ish hours F121 917hours F122 750hours F123 350hours and F124 not even 20…. In recent years I’d have done atleast 200.

    Game sucks this year
  • Strange one ,with the changes to career, removal of supercar and keeping Algarve it should be a good game really. But like most games not just EA, it's simply not ready and needs months of patching to get it to it's possible potential. Black Friday is earliest i look at games released mid year . Good discount, more content and better first experience.....

I honestly can't say I'm overly surprised. I think people are getting a bit fed up of the same thing every year, which lets be honest, it pretty much is apart from a few fancy tweaks.

F124 got off to a bad start with the handling model. It's good though that they are trying to change it, which isn't easy as you can't please everyone.

They simply have to listen to the community much more, otherwise the demise will continue in this trend I think.

A helmet editor would be a great addition, something we've been requesting for a long time. But regarding helmets what we now have in F124 compared to previous titles of the game is an absolute shambles. What's the point in having a store to purchase things with using pit coins and filling it with stuff that no one cares about!

This alone is a massive step backwards compared to previous games. The games are getting more and more expensive and we are getting much less.

The AI is a disaster and the bugs are arguably the worst of all.

They simply have to improve things for F125 as another copy and paste bug fest with minimal content isn't what we all want.

@Soaringraptor83 To be honest I’m not that surprised as well. It’s the same game every year. Barely improvements. Thousand of carryover bugs. There are bugs in the game that we’ve seen since 2020… never get solved. Broken engine as well. And it seems with the newest game you lost all competitive racers with an almost fully arcade driving style.
  • @IanM282 This. Personally I barely care about customisation, I just want to race other people and win. But you’re fully right. I’ve been on these games for 10 years. The last game I was fully satisfied with was F1 2020. From then on it went downhill. Issues over issues and more and more things that were free suddenly turned into micro transactions. Sad times.
