Re: Mysterious ffb issue brand new csl dd

@Sw1ftStorm_ I’ve seen various posts that having a controller connected as well as a wheel causes strange behaviour. On the off chance you have, try disconnecting controller.

Sorry don’t have any experience with wheel except what I read on here. so can’t help you anymore than that. 😔

  • Thanks for your tip. I remember this controller thing caused issues a long time ago too. I just tried it, but didn’t fix f1 23 unfortunaly. The controller was paired with BT, but never powered on. I removed the device entirely from windows. The FFB is completely broken, off center. But when I hop in any other race game, zero issues ever at all.

I guess there is no other way than refunding. 70€ for a not properly functioning game is insane

  • Thanks guys but I already requested a refund through steam. I’m tired of 4 hours of trying anything, wasting my time. I’m quite a PC guy myself, but I give up. I might check the game out again in a few months when a few updates have passed.

For now I can play f1 21 without issues, so there’s definitely something wrong with 23. 70€ is just too much to let go and wait in patience in hope for a fix.

Very disappointed though, was really looking forward to playing career with my new setup :[

Doesn’t mention updating firmware, this is important - even if the wheel functions in other games.

Updating firmware rarely breaks functionality, it improves it.

There are various updates required for F1 23, at the firmware and driver level for various vendors.

It is not perfect, as there are still issues being investigated, as the Community Raised Issues thread will attest.

For developers to fix the issues they must be able to replicate. I can only speak from my own experience with fully updated software and firmware that the issues are minor and not easily replicated. I will temper that assertion with the fact that I have not done very much in terms of MP mode game time and I don’t see the need to ALT-TAB the game at all; overlays run fine and allow me to use comms and benchmark metrics during gameplay.

I will try to address this in future hours game time, but my advice is always the same. Update everything (including the PC) and consoles and don’t run pre-release environments. I find a large percentage of the issues here are that or related to green coloured hardware; sorry that’s borne out by statistics, not just opinion.

I have tried fanatec driver 451 (latest), 450 and 447. None fixed the issue. I know how important software is with simracing. I even almost bricked my base by getting in bootloader by the firmware flasher that just stopped responding in windows.

In the firmware manager, pedals base and wheel are up to date. I flashed all the devices with new firmware too.

    Anything else missing?

    Thanks

No it appears you covered everything then.

Can only think that Fanatec are still working out the issues with the new DD wheelbase. I have the CSL-E 1.1 with the Formula 2.5 (F1 2020 LE) so the wheelbase is more mature. Had an “invisible” wheelbase after one firmware update (cured by Fanatec SOP) but otherwise been fairly consistent. F1 22 I mainly used Thrustmaster but that’s gone now, too much intransigence from them for my liking. Voted with feet.

I agree the game has issues, but maybe I have lower expectations. I’ve logged about 400 hours in 17 and 18. Less than 100 in F1 22 and expected in F1 23.

I can get premium services for £1/hr 😁

I had the elite before the DD aswel, always worked flawless.

The last thing I’m trying now is installing a clean windows 11 with just firmware and f1 23 installed. I am running windows 10 currently which hasn’t been reinstalled for a year or so - although I doubt this is going to fix it.

I guess I’ll keep an eye on future fanatec / f1 23 updates. For now I can atleast play older F1 games (I already had 19, 20, 21 from the time I had my CSL Elite).

In case the windows reinstall fixed it, I will come back here to update! And thanks for taking time to reply even though you’re out of office!!

Even a clean install of Windows and and all software, the issue persists.

Edit: I found a workaround to make it work. At the start of a race I restart base and launch into Pc Compability mode on the DD. After that it works until the next race. And repeat.
