Controller support

WIll F1 22 have proper controller support?

I play on PC with a Microsoft Xbox 360 wired controller, all assists off, manual transmission. All newer F1 games (F1 2015-2021) have built-in controller filters that cannot be turned off and cause input delay. I'd like to know if F1 22 will have proper controller support and will give players the option to completely disable all helpers, filters, dampers, deadzones, enable raw input and fine tune from there like we could in older F1 games such as F1 2012/2013.  I want to have full controller of the car, not have the game numb down my inputs.

  • @FS7_x1 Personally I don't feel like I struggle from any input lag, but at least there should be an option to disable it. On the other hand it would require to overhaul the physics of how the game should run on controllers. The devs seem not to change things that fast, or rather not fast enough.

@SteveJackson Lol I can’t wait for the annual “the game is unfair for controller players as it’s a wheel game” or vice versa

I doubt there will be a change personally but we'll only really know post-launch.

I don't see why the developer would have to change the game's physics. Just put an option to disable all filters and helpers and I'll manage to drive the car myself just like I do in other games such as rF1, rF2, AMS1, GTR2, ACC, etc.

I don't mind the game having default controller settings that are aimed at casuals that use assists & tap steer but ideally there should be the option to completely disable all assists, filters, dampers, helpers, etc, enable raw input and fine tune from there like we could in F1 2012/2013.

@Cpayne32 Racing games will always be unfair to controller players, wheel & pedals will always be the best option to play the game, that's a fact. But for those of us that for whatever reason cannot play with a wheel it would be nice to have the option to completely disable all filters and helpers and have full control of the car. The built-in filters that cause input delay makes things even more unfair for controller users imo.

@FS7_x1 And I totally agree. I use to play controller from 2010 till 2018/2019 so I know how you feel and there does need to be some balancing made
