Essentially they would have to make the specific buttons on the wheel work in the game, they would have to go beyond the basic buttons to do that and they didn’t decide to again since it would be quite a lot of work to do.

I've never understood this, because clicking the right or left stick works on an xbox controller. The buttons on a wheel that are meant to replace these clicks do not work. Next gen my eye

You should take it up with Logitech. I have a feeling this is not entirely a CM issue. I'm not gonna say EA because EA are only influencing the direction of the game and it's pricing strategy, which in the face of the updates (lack of) and communication is pretty *.
There are supposedly Logitech updates in this game but it is not clear the SDK that CM are using or the client they recommend. On PC there is still an argument for LGS legacy, updated LGS or GHub (which is sucky on not just CM products).
