It only shows in certain sessions - not sure if this is always the case. I couldn't set it for time trial the other day, but when I went to Grand Prix mode, I could change it in practice session.
And no, don't ask me why it's not always available, it makes no ****ing sense to me either.
Yeah it comes and goes. The only good thing is that when you are able to bring it up, you can cycle through each game mode and set the all up.

Definitely available to customise in FP1. Just remember to look at the bottom off the screen. As each session has different on screen options. And you can cycle through each screen. Practice, qualifying, race and pits.
edit
You have to be on track to access osd

Me too. I'm on PS4. Ingame options show a red bar accross it indicating it is locked..
I exited the game and returned to HOME, and selected the main game options and it was the same as described above.
I think that feature came in last year or the year before. I tried to move stuff but I couldn't get it work properly. I couldn't really understand what way it worked. I have little or no patience, so I exited and never returned to it.
I'm not saying it was broken or anything like that. I'd like to able to move the icons around the screen, but I couldn't figure it out. There was little or no explanation to it.
Probably good on PC what with drag and drop, but on PS4 all it done was to give me a headache. Maybe next year it could be improved upon. It would be good to be able to use it properly. Maybe a better indepth tutorial guide. - EA_rephii4 years ago

Hey everyone,
as ScarDuck14 mentioned, you have to be on track to change and access the OSD settings.
Best option here is to go to Time Trial > Leave the garage to the track > Press Pause and access the settings to change the OSD.Let me know if you still face issues while doing that.

There is no pattern to this bug. Its random but the only way I can customise the osd is by restarting the game and then customise the osd once before it usually disappears.
Its still happening in every mode on track. Its a bug.
Its on every platform mate. I raised this issue with codemasters early 2021 yes it was happening in that game too and all they did was waste my time going through troubleshooting. Nothing worked and than they stoped replying to me.
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@F1OnlyGamer I’m sorry fella. You must be missing something. I always tinker with my osd so I know it works. Also if it didn’t there would be hundreds off complaints and there just isn’t.
I can change it whenever I’m on track. Happens on pc ps4 and was happening on F1 2021 as well so its not on my end. If it was just on my pc than I could understand but the fact its happening on ps4 as well... coincidence, I don't think so. Others are now also starting to have the same issue.
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@F1OnlyGamer Ive put 1000 hours in 21 and 300 so far this year and not once had this issue.

That picture shows the osd set to off. You can’t customise it when it’s off. Had to be set to on.
Yes I was racing without it because I couldn't change it, but trust me even if thats on the osd is still missing. Screenshot for me with your osd off and u will see the the osd sub menu is still there for u but not for me.

Never been bugged for me. Just have to make sure you pause game whilst driving on track then settings and go to osd customisation
Look, its a bug. Im not an idiot I know u have to be in a seassion on track to customise it, but its often not there.
i just wanna move the things in a spot. After i save it, ho back to the setting, it is back in thr old place. ideas why?
Same het it just not saving.
Im on ps5 out on track, i pause and make adjustments.
There is no option to change to timetrail, race or practice.
Only garage, normal and supercars with triangel.
I have read there should be an option with R3 but its just not working.
After changes it just back to default positions.
I have the same problem it just not saving.

On PS5, I only get the osd customization option for race, pit and super cars. There is no option to customize the osd for time trial or practice. How has this not been fixed yet? This EA, not some small developer. Get it together EA. It worked for f1 22, how is it a problem in 23? I use a racing wheel and need the f1 dial moved so I can see what I’m doing on track. Psvr2 support would make it a non issue, but that was completely ignored This issue and the total lack of psvr2 support is an issue for me. If EA can’t address these issues, 23 will be the last f1 game I purchase.
My OSD options arenot available during practice and qualy. By this i mean during practice, i can not see my track map, access my MFD, see times, see clock...nothing. I am able to communicate to pit but only voice commands. Any advice?
