Question to owners of HP Reverb G2 and Orgin version of the game. Does it work?

As title says, is there any problem for users on Orgin with this VR headset?

  • I understand there was some confusion as to whether or not the G2 Reverb would work with F122.

Upon launching the game, I get greeted with a menu that says 'Not wearing headset - The VR headset is not being worn. Please put on your VR headset to continue'.

SteamVR seems to be operating as usual and I can see the menu through my headset.

Is there a way to get past this menu? Anybody else experiencing similar?

  • I had the same issue with my G2.

When I first got it I put tape over the sensor inside the headset to fool the games into thinking the headset was always just on.

In F1 22 I had to remove the tape covering the sensor and then it worked as it should.

    No idea otherwise.

Updated drivers, verified game files, neither fixed it unfortunately.

@GuzzBot I don't know about Reverb, but on the Quest 2 you just put it on and access through Steam VR on the headset not PC using Link. If Reverb works with Steam VR ever, it should work with F1
  • Appreciate the fix

Allowed me to get the main menu (further than before), then I got the same error

Persisting now even after a restart ☹️

EA, you're really giving me little reason to care about your company's existence at all. The Reverb G2 is widely considered one of, if not the best VR headset for sim racing and flying.

If you guys can't manage to get the Reverb G2 working properly, then I'll be saving myself $60.

  • I had the same issue as Guzzbot when launching the Origin version of F1 22 in VR for the first time on my HP Reverb G2 (first edition).

I fixed it by launching it without VR, changed all the settings I wanted, ran a benchmark, saved, exited the game. Then I manually started Windows Mixed Reality Portal, Manually started SteamVR and restarted the game in VR and it worked.

Subsequent starts in VR worked without issue, even without performing the aforementioned steps.

The game is gorgeous in VR and thanks to DLSS runs superbly in VR on the G2 and it's high resolution, too. 🙂

@Cave_Waverider I reinstalled F1 & SteamVR, deleted my documents folder, followed these steps and still no luck, appreciate the help though.
  • @GuzzBot I had a similar issue with a Vive Cosmos.  As soon as I launched the game it would say headset not worn.  I took the headset off and sat it down for 30 seconds (or whenever the headset usually detects headset not worn),  Then after moving the headset the message went away.  It was like it needed to really detect is wasn't worn before activating.  Hope it works for you.

  • Are you wearing glasses inside your headset. I did and only when I took them off it all worked brilliantly!
